Hi.
Bought a secondhand Paca. Works fine but big problems connecting it!
Have an old power PC G5 running 10.58.
Kyma 7 wouldn't install. Contacted Symbolic Sound and they discovered a bug.
A couple of days later uploaded new version. Works perfectly. Seems the stories about their fantastic customer support are all true.
Anyway Paca connected to G5 over FireWire 800 and no problems. Paca connected to Motu 828 Mk 2 over FireWire 800 to 400 cable.( not bilingual?)
The minute I turn on Motu the Paca goes into a disconnect/connect routine or just disconnects completely from computer.
Unusable.
Tried Motu directly to G5 but hangs up everything as well.
Thought it could be FireWire ports on Motu gone bad but when I connect it to a modern PC with drivers it's fine.
The frustrating thing is I can't get Pacas drivers to install on my windows 7 home premium machine! Just says disconnected from computer.
So here I am with a great Paca unable to get a sound out of it!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
They say there's a steep learning curve with Kyma but not installing it!
Cheers

Problem solved.
FireWire 800 to 400 cables were not bilingual. The 800 end had a beta connector which it shouldn't have. Bought better ones from Lindys and all the problems gone.
Just goes to show quality is worth the money!
