NM and Windows 10/64 Subject description: Nord Modular G1 Editor under Windows 10 64-bit |
 |
|
Hi,
I had my NM1 running fine under Windows 8.1 64-bit, and then upgraded to Windows 10.
Now I get an error message from the VC++ Redistributable Library upon trying to run the NM program on the PC, to the effect that "this application as asked Runtime to close it in an unusual way".....
I imagine roaring, drunken Swedes with axes circling around a darkening campfire, chasing VC++ into the flames.....
ANYWAYS.... I have a vague sense this may have to do with infamous msvcrt.dll having been updated in the System32 Windows folder.
Does anyone else have any experience with this, and any tips on possible solutions? I've searched my systems for older msvcrt.dll files to install in the NM folder, to see if that works, but none are to be found.
It's an oddity, to be sure. |

Hi Marduk,
Play with the compatibility settings on the executable (r-click the program, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab) -- set it to Win95 and see what happens. |

I've never set up a virtual machine on my Mac. This may be a naive question but is it necessary to partition your hard drive in order to install a copy of Windows? I just installed a new SSD and I'm trying to figure out how to get the editor up and running using VMware fusion or virtualbox.
Any help would be appreciated. |

no need to partition. The version of Windows opens inside the VMWare or Parallels. |

Thanks amnesia!
I was looking for this info in various FAQ, tutorials, and instruction manuals but couldn't find an answer.
I'll post my results when I eventually work it all out. I've been dreaming of having my editor and DAW all in the same machine for quite some time. |

Well if I had (access to) Windows 10 then I wouldn't be asking around but trying it out instead, wouldn't I now?
So the answer to this question will be decisive in buying a (relatively) cheap win 10 tablet for running the NM editor. Or not.
Also no need to run full blast win+parallels for NM Editor on osx. It will work fine with Wine (the how-to guide is a sticky in this forum) |

I've got it running under W10, using Win95 Compatibility Mode, on my PC (Windows system).
Can't guarantee that will be true for every Windows PC out there, but it works. |
