dual Minimoog VCF normalisation scheme Subject description: Minimoog VCF |

I just mounted my Eurorack Dual Minimoog Filter. Works great apparently no problems , I mismatched one cap the 100Pf for one 100Nf in the first PCB
Stiull worked actually.
I had the face plate done in black , and the face and back is not conductive , so I did connect all the Jacks Ground together , did not notice noisy behavior.
The reasons for building a Dual one were:
first it is nice to double the fun in "stereo" and , as i Had to put the PCB parallel to faceplate to fit my folding takeaway case , thus enlarging the face plate , rather put two of them there.
Ever since I discovered the Yamaha CS15 and CS30 I enjoy having dual filters of the same type going L and R.
Anyhow I calibrated the first one at about the ratings showed (32HZ disapearing at CCW stting) I felt it lacked some highs , especially used as oscillators , full Q. I then calibrated the Right side one one octave above.
V/oct calibration by hear , first with digital osc as ref , then the second one from it's brother filter
There is now one thing I would like to add : normal the CV1 (or CV2 if simpler) of the second filter to the first one
normal the IN 1 or 2s of both filters
I wonder if this is as simple as connecting the first tip connection of signal to the receiving jack normalling lug , or if one needs to "protect" with diodes , resistance ? Especially for Audio , level wise , is it ok ?

I think that will be OK. I recently did a PCB with a minimoog VCF and VCA on it, discretes only, no opamp buffering or mixing, and that works fine (sending CV to VCF via attenuator and to VCA directly). I did also do a tiny daughterboard with mixing and buffering which I am going to add. This way, I have a mixer on the inputs and opamp buffers on VCA output and VCF output.
Edit: Great frontpanel, by the way! Classy! |

hey thanks LF Lab . I guess I 'll try with straight strapping those CVs and audio then! |
