Here's one I picked up -- leave the mixer module midway, and push the cable PARTLY in. Do not insert all the way.

Play with the volume knob on the mixer for the channel in question, and also play with the contact of the cable's tip with the mixer module's socket.

What are some other manual techniques?

For my NYE ZIM set I had my desk monitors on the same table with the mixers, and the mixer chassis would vibrate noisily at certain pitch+overtone ranges. I found it annoying and moved to monitoring using stage monitors on the floor-carpet of my study, but you could mic it & use it as a feature. I had to move a big practice ZIM setup out of my basement and back into my study for similar reasons. It vibrated the hell out of my son's 2 drum kits in certain pitch+overtone ranges.
