Welcome to the crazy world of Lunettas!

Re your Ω GENERATOR... since the 40106 generates a square wave, i.e. 2 states, the "vactrol" would only go between 2 different values, albeit imperfectly depending on the rate of the oscillator, and the slowness/response of the LED & LDR.

To add a little more variation, there are a couple of simple mods to make the 40106 produce triangle waves. One is with a capacitor, and another with an opamp.

You mentioned wanting to control the duty cycle (A.K.A. mark & space) of the 40106, but failing. I'm not sure what you did, but here's a schematic of one I've built many times... it's my drawing of a circuit I can't remember where I got it from.

There's another 40106 oscillator with adjustable duty-cycle at Beavis Audio's CMOS synth page (which has a couple of other good & useful circuits)...

Have fun!

looks like a proper shitcore case (and I mean that in a good way)

for PWM there is this thread https://electro-music.com/forum/topic-56412.html

ooh.nice thanks ....

i'm gonna try that circuit with the two diodes!

---

i dont really have time to be at the workshop this week, but i did manage to squeeze in two hours yesterday and built a 6 CHANNEL HARD SIGNAL MIXER out of a 4050 buffer chip. i simply put inputs and LED's to each gate and mixed all outputs with diodes, no pots but a spdt switch to on/off the inputs (hence the hard signal mixing). very suitable for a lunetta.. maybe i should call it a 6 CHANNEL HARD BINARY MIXER instead?
