Here is something not many synthesisers can do. It’s called phase modulated sync, available on some 70’s modular synthesisers and maybe some others I don’t know about. It is a subtle effect involving standard phase sync, but the sync point on the master can be modulated.

If you connect a pwm rectangle to an oscillator sync input, you don’t hear any effect from modulating the pulse because only the falling edge shifts with modulation. I’ve just put an inverter in line so that now the sync occurs on the moving edge of the rectangle.

Example has two pairs and still comes in under 25%, only two variations. Makes an OK pad sound.
