Is there a factory reset for the NM1? |
|
|
Hello,
its too long ago since i used the NM1 regulary and i there is this berlin party alzheimer...
I have problems with my machine .
sometimes it dont sees the pazches and calls all location unused.
sometimes it gives an error message when trying to load a patch.
switching the machin on and off clears that situation.
Question:
Is there a factory reset command?
I remember that reformating of the memory can help...
whats the best way to do that?
I recently installed the dsp expansion...
Can the problems be related to that?
Is it maybe necessary to reformat the memory or do some kind of reset after the instalation?
thanks for any info,
Sven |

Sounds like you've got gaps in patch banks, like
1 - patch1
2 - unused
3 - patch2 _________________ Jan

no , actually not..but thanx for reminding me that this was causing problems...
I also just found another problem with a different frequ response on left and right channel... funny enough its happening on booth output pairs... |

301 - patch2

Meanwhile I went through all the list mail (including Wizoo and code 404 etc.) searching for keywords "factory" and "reset" .. nothing showed up (but I did see some mail about your stolen NM Classic, the one with the mini jacks). _________________ Jan

closest thing you can have to a factory reset is a OS re-install. That's the only way if -for example-one of your auto-loading patches becomes corrupted. _________________ Kassen |

Didn't a downgrade erase all patches even ?
There is some secret key combination, I remember that ... but I can't find it anymore. _________________ Jan

many synths have secret key combinations for sservice reasons..
but maybe clavia dont needs that because the editor ports?
however... filling the gaps between the accidantly stored patches with empty patches seemed to solve the situation...at least i didnt had any new issues...
I bought a new NM1 a year ago (the stolen one of cause never returned)...but i just started now to use it again...
i forgot quite a lot ... have to study my old patches to learn the tricks again... |

I never owned the G1, I am curious about the spectral oscillator though. Any chance of a simple demo sample to show how it is different? |

you probably noticed how much louder the osc gets during the shape change of the waveform...
It als distorts different on the peak position..
i once tried to emulate it..but it wasnt correct and expensiv... the shape mod input has a different characterisics aswell..
so a simple envelope on a spectral oscilator mod input creates a very snappy sound compared to having the same on the g2..even with extra amplitude modulation... |

Yes the G2 version seems to have a flatter level, the sine section is at least 10dB up on the G1.
As far as the basic buzzy tone goes, I don't think I can tell the difference.
But my ears are not very good.

Probably, that would make sense bacause chances are they wouldn't work anyway. I thought a re-install also erased all patches. There are occasions where you have to erase all patches without it ever booting in normal; mode I'm not sure how you would do that otherwise.
I never downgraded the OS, I was tempted a few times but the module limit of the older version always kept me from actually doing it. _________________ Kassen |

i dont belive that !
But the difference in the distortion is indeed minimal..the different response to shape modulation and the levelrise do the bigger part...
also the in general smoother sound of the G2 weekens the buzzy plastic reality experiance the spectral oscilator on the Nm1 can give |
