I wish I could find a picture, but on eBay I am flooded with weird megaphones and Darth Vader heads that seem to be new products, not fun toys from the 1980s.

I first tried to find anything Mattel-related, but I hit a dead end. I just assumed it was Mattel because I was probably hypnotized into buying it from their fast and loud commercials when I was a kid.

Here is a description of the item:

It is red and slightly saxophone shaped, but basically a stick. The top is where the microphone is located, and that top portion is black. The bottom had a speaker, but more interestingly, a line out jack. I think you see where this is going.

I don't know if there were any actual labels on the middle of the toy, but there was a grey rubber button with up and down arrows that allowed you to change pitches. They were pretty basic settings: major 3rd, perfect fifth, octave above, octave below. I'm sure there were a few others, possibly a perfect 4th and a minor 3rd, and very high/low octaves.

If I can get it for cheap, I was going to rip off the mic portion and put in a line in. I decided to let a guy "borrow" it. Big mistake.

Well, after e-mailing Eric at MiniOrgan.com, I found just one site dedicated to this awesome machine:

Well, in the realm of voice modulators, I guess you could say it really does suck. Rolling Eyes

Hmm...and sex toys....perhaps why the one site dedicated to it was a French fansite Wink

Good news, though. It's being shipped from Germany as we speak! I'll be sure to post some obnoxious audio and/or video. The last time I used this thing, I was 12 and I obviously had no musical friends. So, I had to do what any other young musician would do: I played my drumset with my right hand, held the Dynamike in the other and connected it to a cheap bass amp, and played along to a recorded melody on my Casio SK-1 (which I still have!). And, if I'm ever desperate enough, I will post the old cassette recordings of those weird-ass jam sessions as well.

Alright, but I've got volumes of them. I keep them in a big grey plastic case under my computer in case I'm ever hurting for old samples to use.... Smile
