Bome Send SX?? Help? Subject description: Sending SYSEX to nord lead 2 |
 |
|
Anyone here use Bome Send SX, to dump sysex to a machine?
Sorry but I am a bit new to machines that actually hold and store memory!
I have SX setup so that when I press trigger on the Nord it registers the numbers within the ‘In’ box, and then when I load the sysex I wanna dump into the out box and press send it takes a few minutes then says its complete, I presss store on the nord, but nothing happens – all the soundbanks are the same…
I must be missing something one vital little thing… its not covered in the manual in great detail, and have surfed the forums, now I just need someone who has actually done it themselves….
So:
-do I need to press store so it flashes, before sending from Send Sx? Then press store again once finished (as I have tried this and it didn’t seem t work)
It has to be something simple like this as I have the nord communicating with Bome as it is supposed…I believe, so any ideas of where I am going wrong?
cheers

oK TO clarify further I am using ableton live 5
I just asked a friend and he seems to think I dont need Bome SX, just drop the clavia patches (from their site in .mid format) and hit play or record in ableton to send them to the nord
is there a sysex dump setting in the global controls i may be missing?

Which NordLead are you using?
To send a single program to the computer, just press [Shift+OctShiftUp]
To dump a complete bank, just press [Shift+OctShiftDown]
On the NordLead1 and NordLead2 complete banks are only dumped to the synth using the PCMIA cards. I never used the NordLead2X, so check the Manual.
To get a single file in the Nord, just dump that single one (mostly in SySex format), it will be uploaded into the FlashMemory. You have to save it to a memory location.

oh right - well thats my problem - I have a nord lead 2 and the pcmcia card is in the mail
in the manual it mentions only being able to write over the first 40 slots of the original 100
i cant recall it saying I couldnt dump to the nord's memory, but I will take your word for it - and i guess just wait for the card to arrive and then refer back to your instructions
cheers for the quick reply! |

There are 4 Slots [ABCD], where the patches can be loaded to use making the sound.
There are 40 memory locations, which can be overwritten, in the program bank, where 59 locations can't be overwritten and are there for ever...
When a patch is dumped from the computer, it will be opened in a buffer, which has to be stored in a memory location if you want to keep it in the synth. Complete banks (99 programs) can only be stored to the PCMIA cards.
I hope it's more clear...
