Hello everybody, this is my first day on yhis forum. I am new to modular synthesis. so it is very difficult for me to program patches (yet).
I have bought a modular and i don´t know if it is expanded. it sais in the beginning screen: version 1.40 Exp, but i am not sure or convinced.
Is there a patch that i can test on my modular. Can someone post a patch that will clarify if i have bougt an expanded version?

thnx

You better believe it, it's expanded Very Happy

But if you don't you can make a new patch and have it in a slot that is the only one to be active. Then just throw in modules (oscillators for instance, doesn't matter too much) in the (upper) voice area until you have a patchload of somewhere from 51 to 100%. Then raise the voice count and see if you get to 4 or to 8 for the max.

And welcome of course.

edit: I moved this topic to the NM section, that seemed more appropriate.

Thanks

Altough i have a hard time (since yesterday) to understand the editor , modular and trying to program some relevant sound, I am very happy to see that this is a very nice community (forum) that could help me a lot in understanding the modular. I should have bought this thing earlier (f nice sound, I don't need my korg z1 and NR2 anymore). I think that I am going to read and try a lot of things these days.
Some of the patches of the zipped file (8mb) don't work (I do not hear a thing when I play the keys). Is this normal or do I have to change a setting?

One some of them you have to push “run”
(because they are sequencer patches, you have to start a clock)

some others probably don’t work because of OS updates.
(some modules in v1.4 use a little bit more DSP since the first version of the OS, making old patches go over 100%)

A lot of them are far lower than 100%. Do do not work.

Could you give some examples ? No need to post the patches, just the creator and the patch name will do (as we have http://electro-music.com/g2patches.php )

This is a MIDI generator, it assumes keyboard playable patches to be present in slots B and C which it will then sequence.

This patch is muted, see the little mute button to the right of the patch's main volume knob (in the toolbar). Can be tricky to find Twisted Evil

The bottom sequencer in the left column is used to control volume, it is set to all zero values for some reason -> no sound. The envadr module is set to very short times, not very helpful either. Guess this was a quick thingy to make some point in some article on the forum.

Is a keyboard patch that works here, strange. Some of Chet's patches however need a breath controller or some modifications before they will sound. It's a must nearly to read the posts that acompany Chet's patches in order to see what they are good for.

This patch assumes a signal to be present on the internal audio busses 1 and 2

Hmm, I really wouldn't have thought there could be that many different reasons Very Happy

OK thanks, I am glad that nothing is strange about my modular.
Just stupid newbie concerns.
