...perhaps we need a repair forum in the how to section?

i figured i'd post this for the record, as many of these dod pedals are similar in design.

one of my bandmates tried to run his dod analog delay pedal from the opposite polarity powersupply it is supposed to have. after a burning smell and some smoke, it did not run anymore.

one of the ic's and a nearby surface mount capacitor looked like they had gotten hot...but the real problem was a circut board trace that burned up...between the power in jack and an associated diode. simply soldering a piece of wire along it's original (now charred) trace fixed the unit back to 100% operation. it's possible that the surface mount cap is also a problem, but it sounded fine to my ears.

Wow, that was lucky. Deknow, you have the knack. Cool

I guess we might want a Repairs forum, but for now I just push this post up to the highest How To forum - which is sort of a catch all for How Tos.

...well, i've never been afraid to take things apart....and very few things have i not been able to get back together.

in this case, i expected a blown cap or burned up transistor...when it's visually apparant (like a burned up circut trace), i can usually fix it...more subtle problems require more knowledge than i have.
