Subject description: When 4 part timbral´s not enough?
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

After what I understand you can get Cubase to play sounds from NL3. But what should I do when the 4 part timbral´s not enough?

If I have a sequence in Cubase with for example 8 sounds. Can I transmit 4 sound from my NL3 to my computer and play them like a softsynth?

Help a newbie out here!

I don't understand what you mean with: 'Play them like a softsynth'...

You can program 4 Midi data files in Cubase and record these sounds in the audio tracks. If you need more you do this again with new Midi data files and different sounds and record these on other audio tracks.

But then, if you´re not satisfied with one sound, you can´t change that sound with no less than recording these four Midi files again, or?

In a 8 "chanel" Midi track, can you mix sounds from a NL3 and a soft synth in the same recording?

First, Midi isn't the same as sound, just a protocol which 'tells' a musical instrument what to do.
Secondly, CuBase doesn't make the sound, just Midi and a recording device.
Third, if you save your Midi data, you can use it over and over again.
Fourth, your question is more about Midi then about a synthesizer.

Anyway, as long as your system can handle it, you can record as many tracks as you like, so at least 16 synths, software or hardware, are possible!

Maybe a book about Midi will enlight you more Smile

Yeah! You´re right. I have to do some homework before I go bother you here.

Be sure, I´ll be back with more questions.
