KLEE came to live... Subject description: ..a green field of clover... |
 |
|
<wiseheimer>
Klee (germ.) = clover
<wiseheimer>
yesterday night my klee2 came to live finally! it took too long, i know. i followed the development of the klee from the beginning in the original thread. my panel still reflects the design of the first panel layout i designed for the original thread back in ... err... 2006? not sure.
however i powered it up yesterday, and as far as i can see for now, everything's working fine (mixed trigger with gate, glide potentiometers work reversed and some other wiring related issues, though). the range selector is not wired yet and the midi2trigger board is finished but not installed yet.
after playing around for 10min i must admit to love it. again cheerios to scott and the klee-team-members...

i built marc papareils midi2clock. low part count and i could test/try my pic programmer. i also made a mixer map for cubase5, so i can control it from within the software.
i got a midibox pcb and pic in my drawer. i will try that later. i just wanted to have my klee2 midi triggerable ASAP. _________________

Congratulations Fonik! That's definately a great looking Klee.
Makes me think I really should begin building my own Klee soon as well. Just been having a break from all things electronic and concentrating on other things... |

the panel has been finished before the PCBs were available. i started building the klee's electronics right when the 1st run PCBs arrived, so i had to finish the wiring only.
now living in a house, not a flat, i got a room in the basement just for my synth-DIY. that helps a lot. if i want to do something, everyhting is ready to use, if i want to stop building i can just leave everything as is and close the door. that's great.
BTW thank you guys for your kind feedback! _________________

Pouah !
what a piece of panel !
Is this 6mm LED ? you ought to get big led for this kind of big panel, right ?
("cubase mixermap" reminds me my old atari STE. ) |

@sound
for actuall music production i still use cubase5 (too late for me to upgrade and i recently bought ableton). in cubase5 you can build user interfaces with knobs, sliders and other controls that communicate with your midi gear via sysex, and assign them to a certain track.
@funkyfarm
thank you
these are common green 3mm low current LEDs with black anodized LED holders. the 1st, 5th, 9th and 13th step is yellow to reflect the 4step idea from the original KLEE... _________________

You were the only builder that had an illustration of your panel in the build doc
Beautiful work, Mr. Fonik, my hat's off to you!!!

fonik,
That looks great and is a great inspiration for my own plans. Can you tell me, what is the case/housing behind your panel? is that a Schaeffer/FPD panel or was it created by other means to fit the case? |

yes. it is a schaeffer panel i used to replace the frontpanel of this cabinet: rs components multipac. i couldn't find it on the northamerican rs-components (allied components) site, though. _________________

2 questions from my side:
a) Papareil MIDI to CV-Gate Interface MC-628?
b) which PSU circuit is installed inside, fonik? ....
(btw) i really like your panel design. |

yes, it's marc barreilles 628.
currently i am using a crappy noisy cheap switching PSU, it is almost unusable. i just got the parts for ken stones audio PSU. _________________

i'm glad that the other guy's post after my last one was deleted. there seemed to be a misunderstanding about fonik's answer to the psu question - the snarky response was definitely not merited.
to clarify, fonik bought a cheap 3euro switching psu from pollin.de: http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?highlight=pollin&t=17726
i recognized it in the klee pic but it doesn't sound like it worked very well... not that surprising for that price
so he instead bought a cgs psu board. hope that clears everything up. _________________ Sneak-Thief - raw electrofunk |

yep, i used 30mm alpha sliders from futurlec.com. work fine.
the panel was about 115.-EUR. _________________

did not see this certain post.
thank you sneakthief for clarification.
however, yesterday i tried the klee together with my EFM dual VCOs instead of the TH 3038 dual VCOs, and i could not recognize the noise anymore?!
i will build and incorporate ken stones PSU, though. _________________

it was me who posted and later deleted the post.
Snarky? Man, i said "thanks for advice".
Why i deleted it? i saw there's 2 Ken Stone's PSUs, one for music synthesizers CGS66 and the second general one, CGS14.
After posting the "it's probably CGS66 one, thanks for advice", i made a little research and came up with this..
i guess the answer is clear
Thanks for pointing the CGS66 out, anyways!

on the post you deleted, you said "thanks for the advice" then put the "roll eyes" smiley.
that, my friend, is the snarky comment i was referring to. a "thanks" followed by is definitely sarcasm in the english-speaking world.

But as there are two sides when communication is going on it may still be the case that you read a meaning that was not implied _________________ Jan
