I believe daw's are as good or promotive as the user that uses it is.
Theres alot of knowledge that need to be grasped before daws can be fully utilized.

I don't believe it puts the user farther away from the actual composing.
It opens op for alot of fast productions that can be altered 1000s + ways using only mixer capabilites.
One can record using pc-keyboard, i actually do scales using that. One problem is the pressure that cant be read as on a midi keyboard. There are ways of compensating that.
But in the end is it good for the actual creativity?, yes if used to explore not to automate the whole creation.
