Spinal surgery -- Pls read! |
 |
|
Hi!
Tomorrow (9/29) i'm going into the hospital for surgery on a herniated disc. They go "thru the front" (under my chin) and fix/move the fluid sacs that are pressing on my spine.
(If i was to fall, i could become paralyzed! That's why the surgery has to be done asap. Sigh....).
Part of the operation is drilling two tiny holes thru my verabrae. Then, they open my hip, and take a small piece of bone. They shape it, and insert it into the holes, where it "grafts" and fills the hole.
The operation is expected to last 3 hours!
I had to have a (closed) MRI done (i find it funny that people can't "take it"! I guess it doesn't bother me 'cos i'm not claustrophobic), and the electronic sounds were really COOL!
Sweeping square waves, tone bursts, etc....i kept thinking how neat it would be to RECORD those sounds as an experimental electronic composition!
In fact, i was a bit disappointed when the "concert" ended..............
Oh, well. Any thots and prayers would be greatly appreciated....i expect to be home by this Friday! And, since i'll be off the entire month of Oct, i'll definitely be working on something new!
Cheers!

Here's hoping it all went well, and that you'll soon be making NJ sonically unsafe again. _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Where there are too many soldiers, there is no peace. Where there are too many lawyers, there is no justice.

I hope your recovery comes quickly. I'll also remember to bring small microphones and a mini disc if I ever get an MRI done |

My thoughts are with you, Norm. Hope it goes well.
I just had an MRI on my right shoulder. I didn't like it at all. I could feel sensations on the left side of my face at times. Very creapy since you aren't supposed to feel anything. The tech asked if I ever had dental work. Like, uh, who hasn't? It was only on certain "settings"; at other times things were fine. I found out that I am a little bit claustrophobic, I guess.
Anyhow, get better and start making some more music... _________________ --Howard

Best of luck for a speedy recovery. Making a little music might get things healing faster... |
