I can't find any info on this topic anywhere: I'm looking for info about the Control Pedal input to the G2. The TRS input, not the "sustain" switch pedal.
What power does it supply?
How much current is available (what range of resistance or pot is good?)
Is it similar to other quality gear (Tip = input, Ring = power, Shield = GND) inputs, that can also accept a mono-type control pedal?
I've tried to look at this myself, and powered off the unit has +12V at the ring, and when powered down, there's 10K Ohms between RS and another 10K between TS, with 20K between TR. Does this sound valid?
I suppose this might be for Clavia, but I thought I'd ping the users to see if anyone has this info first.
What I'm looking to do is make some controllers that use this port (breath controller, theramin, pressure sensors, accelerometer, etc). |

On the G2 there is not much to DIY, in fact there isn't anything worthwhile
(imho) to change to the G2, if at all possible.
But the G2 Pedal input is fine. It seems to be able to eat about any analog
signal. I run it fine with a Doepfer theremin module that outputs between -12V and +12V and it didn't blow up the pedal input. The useful range is 0 to 5 V, which is accidentally the 'practical' output range of the theremin module.
For virtually all controllers MIDI is fast enough when the 'controller to MIDI' box doesn't have to merge a lot of other MIDI data.
There is a lot of commercial stuff using MIDI. Personally I've been using
Peavey PC1600x controllers for a long time. The PC1600x has two extra analog input connectors and it can be programmed what these inputs do. Works fine. I still find the PC1600x a brilliant controller box.

Thanks Jan...that helps alot (just knowing 0-5v is basically the limit)
I'll post my creations in the circuit bending/ DIY area in the near future. |
