Great, look forward to seeing you once again !! Maybe another "British Invasion" or "Adventures in Sound" coolaboration ?? Also, I got my copy of "Space Port Zero Nine Adventures in Sound DVD" ... a nice 35 minute video from Greg and Hong's "Azimuth Visuals".

Do I post this here? Call for ideas/suggestions on seminar |
|
|
Hi all,
Im going to be giving a presentation on "creative process" at EM2010. I would like to know what EM2010 attendees would like or hope to have presented in something with that title. Basically, I am soliciting suggestions and ideas for my reference and inspiration. Ive given this kind of talk for different sorts of audiences, but this one is special.
Where would I post such a call- here? And/or elsewhere?
Thanks in advance for letting me know.

I can start by jotting down a few sub categories:
The Creative Process, when too much equipment stifles the process and how to get out of it.
The Creative Process, how to get out of creative slumps.
The Creative Process, confidence in yourself to set your music free.
These are just a few topics I think would be important to talk about. Some may be obvious but it's a start right

And don't forget the one that I find the most helpful:
The Creative Process: Don't be afraid to fail
Creativity is inefficient at best and very trial-and-error in nature. Sometimes you invest huge amounts of time and resources only to be rewarded with one failure after another, but then again once in a while you hit one out of the park instead of striking out...

Great topic suggestions!
Oh, the first thing I thought of was how to get past creative slumps.
Hate to admit it, sometimes I am overcome with fatigue -- as if someone slipped sleeping pills into my soda. The worst part of creative slumps is the fatigue and frustration that comes with it. _________________ -- Kevin

The discussion for electro-music 2010 is getting spread out and is becoming hard to follow. I just created a new sub forum here:
http://electro-music.com/forum/forum-188.html
Let's make new topics as appropriate and continue our discussion there.
Thanks... _________________ --Howard

The Creative Process Subject description: Tantroniq Presentation |
|
|
The creative process is something that was touched upon at EM2005 by Steve Bowman. He headed an open discussion that dealt with its relation to musical composition.
The following year, Dr. Rebecca Mercuri did a presentation that dealt with the creative process as it relates to psychoacoustics and its impact on the subconscious mind.
Both presentations were fascinating and thought-provoking. However, the creative process is a very diversified and complex subject that can be approached from different angles.
It would be good to revisit this subject on a more in-depth basis now that we have so many new members attending the conference.
I would suggest that Tantroniq touch bases with Steve and Rebecca as they may have relevant information to share in the form of literature or visual aides
(assuming that some type of projection is involved).
The literal approach suggested by State Machine (Bill), Inventor (Las) and
Kevin Kissinger is an excellent start.
Personally I can only contribute this much:
The creative process is rooted in ALL the life experiences that are stored in our
subconscious minds in the form of images, sounds and sensations.
Everything we see, hear, touch, smell and taste becomes closely intertwined with what we do creatively. The difference between good and evil, dark and light can become blurred because the sum total of our life experiences and emotions manifest themselves in our work.
This intimate aspect is what makes music and art such a universal language.
It can reach into the subconscious INSTANTLY and inspire people in such a way
that their own creative process is triggered. Therefore, the creative process perpetuates itself.
In live performance, the creative energy flows from the musicians to the audience and it reciprocates.
The Electro-Music Festival is a perfect example of this energy at work.
It's addicting. YOU CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT. |

I'm planning to fly in JFK on Friday at 7am, and returning on sunday 10pm (I'd have to be there by 8pm).
Let me know -- fingers crossed.

If there is no one that can give you a ride, Dasz, then there is a bus you can take to NYC and a train from there to Port Jervis. Then the camp will come down and pick you up with a van. _________________ --Howard
