A rave review and some questions via email

I'm sharing this on the forum because I'm very proud to receive this and there are a couple of good questions that are of general interest as well. I'm leaving the name off to respect the privacy of the fellow that sent this to me.

Answer 1) Based on my experimentation, all of these players should have the same sound quality. You should use the one(s) that have the features and look/feel you prefer. If you are playing MP3, the decoder you are using will make a difference. I use LAME but there is some opinion that the Fraunhofer mp3 codec is the best. I know the guys that developed this one and they are superb engineers with excellent musical ears. It's worth a try.

Answer 2) Yes, go ahead and use 24 bit mode if your player enables this. The plugin will adjust to whatever sample rate and bit depth if finds for the input signal.

Answer 3) I don't know. I have a similar mother board and have used the internal converters. I think it sounds OK, but, if you use an external converter of high quality, you will probably be much happier. My recommendation is RME. Considering the quality of the hardware and the amazing features of the software, it is a bargain even though it is expensive. IMHO, it's well worth the extra money. They have new USB one called the Babyface. It's more reasonably priced than the earlier Fireware ones and it looks fabulous to me. The software for it is even better than what ships with the Firewire interfaces. In fact, we are working on a arrangement to sell these an the electro-music.com store (USA only).

Hi!

Any news of a fixed version that solves the problem of the delay setting not being properly saved? It is a shame that such as great piece of software is hampered by this small but anoying bug.

Hi again Howard,

Suddenly a problem! Winamp, unannounced, today tells me that the ambiphonic dsp_vst.dll plugin I downloaded from you last year in not a "valid" vst plug-in. Odd, it has been working beautifully for months.
