so that's what i've built so far. a new version of the X-pan/fader module, now ssm2164 based.
both inputs are panned/faded across both outputs. when potentiometer or incoming CV is positiv In 1 goes towards R out, and In 2 towards L out. when incoming CV is negative it is the other way round... so i can use it as pan module or fader or even as VCA...

fonik, a crossfader/panner is on my list of builds. I was thinking of using an ssm chip, does it do equal power fading/pans?

My Quantizer is up and running. I still have a few software tweeks, but the module works.
8 channels, VC scale selection (about 30 scales in 2 banks), hold mode or sample and hold mode.

what do you mean by "equal power"? my english is not that good, especially when it comes to technical terms. Embarassed

anyways, each channel stays at unity gain for negative, resp. positive positive voltages and fades/pans when it becomes positive, resp. negative. the response is log by ssm2164 default. (see graph below)

Sorry about that fonik, actually your English is very good!

Equal power refers to the fact that when crossfading 2 signals, or panning one, the apparent volume has no dip, or reduction, in the center. If you were crossfading a signal with itself there would be no level change as you crossfade. My understanding is that equal power crossfaders use an exponential response.

This is a BSKS circuit (Boolean Sequencer Karplus Strong) that I prototyped and offered for sale. It hasn't sold, but it's big brother (The Brick Music Synthesizer) did sell for $150 and I used the money to buy parts to make another one and two kits. You see, I'm having a shot at getting into the business of kitting and selling built noisemakers and this BSKS is the best choice for me.

You've probably heard me ramble on about the BS and KS designs in the past, suffice to say that together they make a good noise maker. Even better is a BSKSKS, where the second KS acts as a resonator for the first one.

I think that I will end up keeping this one as a reference design for the kits because the KS is a little tricky to minimize this much. Also the BS is a minimal design and as such has limited audio variation in the song that it creates.

So I'll be posting more designs as I create them this year... wish me luck!

Les

Hail the Master Really nice work on the blue sequencer Phobos. And that is an excellent idea to generate the binary with dip switches and a 4040, should give some interesting patterns.

I also really like your breadboard design Inventor, you truly mastered the art of wire bending.

Had some time to build this weekend.

I populated the 2nd new cabinet and reorganized the keyboard rack.

Also completed a Yusynth Quadrature VC LFO module.

Five (3" each) module spaces remain in the new cabinet (which is on the top row).

I didn't expect to complete as much as I have over the last 12 months. When I decided to order two new cabinets (a friend built them for me) I wanted to have some room for expansion and was present to the idea that to order two cabinets was overkill.

With all the new voltage-controlled modules the need for more LFO's has surfaced so I expect to build some LFOs in the near future.

I will soon run out of cabinet space though I have two 11-module cabinets available. I really don't need to take up more space however I really like to build so I will probably just build some more and add more cabinets. My parts stock is pretty rich so I can do quite a bit of building.

Lots of beautiful work in this thread. Before 2010 I hadn't done much outside of kit-building however the build threads and the DIY section beckoned. Kits are fun however to be able to "build from scratch" is very gratifying. It is fun to see a module that I like and just decide to build it.

Compact Synthi in a box

Living VCOs, JH 36dB Filter w/ the LFO, CGS LFOs, VCS, Buchla 208 random, mix, Sergey Wave Multipliers, Quad VCA with VC Mixing.

So far, capable of tremendous range. Cant see it becoming boring, ever.

eventually finished the thomas henry phase shifter module from his book "a synthesizer for the 21st century". took my about two years. i made some errors which killed two LM13700, and then caused the working OTAs to always stay open. yesterday i had some time and motivation to pull it out of the drawer and to get it working, which i did finally:

Here's a video.

This one is a little slow to get going, but it gets there eventually.

That's not loading for me...would love to see what you've done there.

I'm eventually going to do something similar with the JH Living VCO, a couple JH Trapezoids and one of the diode filters from Yusynth plus some ring mod and noise and mixing stuff...plus dual joysticks. Haven't spec'd it all out yet. Thinking of doing it as a stand alone synth for mainly SFX type stuff.

Fantastic. I love your assortment of instruments. It's like a crazy arcade. Good tunes too.

Is the spring reverb its own effect box or is it build into the Polyrhythm machine?

Typewriter case, has a removable lid. Perfect depth for 2 layers of boards where needed and a big PSU.

Working on a matching companion with loads of Fritz stuff.
