Hello,
i have some strange behavor with my nord modular g1, the four buttons that let me choose the sound patch (A to D) is often not working. when i press one of the four buttons, the preset does not change (can't switch to A, B, C or D !!!)
do you think i should open it and clean it ? perhaps the buttons should be changed ?

I have some non working buttons too ... didn't look into it yet, but had planned to unscrew the thing ... would need to pop off the knobs, unscrew the PCB ... no idea what to expect then though. _________________ Jan

I have some similar problems that are intermittent on my G2X. I'll be interested in whatever you guys discover. Good luck. _________________ --Howard

I was lazy and applied contact spray from the outside without removing the knobs PCB panel etc. . .. it solved the problem for now ... but you never know how long it will last with contact spray
Before I did this I did open up the synth, and the switches looked pretty much open, so thought the procedure might just work. And I would have had to remove the whole toplid to be able to reach all the screws for the knobs panel .. didnt feel like doing that .. and was a bit worried about getting the LEDs into the holes properly again .. probably doable, but often messy, especially if you managed to bend some wires.
This will make the synth a lil fatty on the outside, but wiping that off was good enough for me.
It sounds fatter too now _________________ Jan

issue with the NM1 and its 4 buttons :-) solved I guess ! |

Hello,
So in the end, I open the Nord modular G1 Rack.
Very easy to open, check the pictures below.
For you to remember my issue
I had a problem with one of the NM1 button that didnot seem to work when I was pressing it : Sometimes the button (B) worked, someother times it did not!
So I open the NM1, I took off the caps of the 4 buttons (A,B,C,D) and change the metal inside it. To replace them I took the same metal from another button (find button) that I don't use much.
Since I did swap those two buttons, the NM1 is working fine !!!! no more issue on the second button B and the 'find' button is .. OK ... not much
It was also very easy to took back everything together, I took the time to remove the dash, etc
Kind regards to all

Warning !!! never do this !
contact spray is either oxidating and making things worse in the long run..or its the good stuff that is rather conductive oil based ..but this stuff can sneak to the CPU board and can interfear with the operation of the synth since the conductivequality of the oil can create shorts between the very close by cpu or ram soldering traces..
so never spray into a digital synth.. when you need to use contact spray direct it directly to the places where its needed and apply only a very liitle soo that it cant crawl onto the main board..
a surrenge with needle from the pharmacy is the tool of choice here. Spray into a small cup and take the contact spray fluid from there.. thanapply it directly into the switches.
you need to open the machine for that.. dependend on the condition and construction of the switches it can make them work again for years..
However its encessary to use themregulary than.. just spray and not using them can lead to more and harder to remove dirt inside the switches..
In ideal switches get replaced at least after the second contact spray round..they dont really get better over time..
maybe we should find out what brand clavia uses and get a few spares. |
