Sounlab ?'s |
 |
|
So I ordered my board should get it any day now. Hadn't seen many new posts so thought I ask a couple a ?'s early.
1 The traces on top a the board: Are those jumpers? Do I need to solder
a jumper there in the pic on this forum I didn't see any.
2 Patched out: About the 1k resistors, Is it as simple as soldering all three to the end of your hookup wire and splitting them to the appropriate
outputs tips? And just make sure all outputs are grounded daisychain?
Been making quite a few stomp boxes and always been into synths
just didn't think I'd get the opportunity to build one.
Many thanks Ray Wilson and company
and much thanks to electro-music.com _________________ "your stripes are killer bro" |

Wild Zebra...
I haven't built a Sound Lab so I can't answer your questions. I hope to do so some day though. _________________ --Howard

Since nobody has answered, I'll take a shot. I am an electrical engineer and I've designed a few circuits in my time.
Most of the time, people will put a 1K resistor on the output of a module to protect against the potential damage of a short circuit. This can happen pretty easilly on a modular synth because it's very easy to touch the tip of a patch cord with ground. The 1K resistor limits the current draw in that condition.
Unless Ray or somebody chimes in, I would suggest it's OK to just use one 1K resistor - one end connected to the circuit board and the other end connected to as many output jacks as you decide to use. _________________ --Howard

Hi Wild Zebra,
no, you don't need solder any jumper upon those traces on the components side 'cause they already work as jumpers since the PCB holes are metallized.
These PCB's are very well built and very professional...
In the next few days I will finish my first DIY synth (which is the WP20 still coming from the brilliant mind of Ray Wilson), then I will start building the Sound Lab, and I'm thinking of building a 8 or 16 step analog sequencer also (the basic one on the Ray's pages)...
Good luck with your project Wild Zebra... enjoy your Sound Lab!!!
bye
