sound lab keyboard |

well, after building quite a few of the geiger counter versions of the sound lab mini-synth i decided to build one in another enclosure.
i started this one a while ago and still have a few things to finish up on it, but i think its pretty sweet.
check it out:

i just used a rheem kee bass keyboard and case, gutted out the pcb that didnt work, and added the sound lab pcb and a new front panel.
the picture is bad, i know, but i have since labeled the front panel and started on the keyboard circuit (also ray's circuit design.........so much free info on his site!)

Hey Ryan, you really did an outstanding job!!!
this box with inverse coloured keys is just great
also the sequencer and the large synth look really wonderful...
why don't you post a closeup of your new front panel?

That's awesome! Will you have to reroute the switch contacts to work with the kb circuit? Or will the Kee Bass work as is?
The Kee Bass was on the Whip It video, right? But with a guitar strap? _________________ -Mike Walters

Looking real nice lanxe. Is that the 2 board digi/analog sequencer?
Is it a difficult build? Just about got all my soundlab parts should be done within a month.

yeah, its rays 2 board sequencer........its pretty easy to build. its just as straight forward ast he soundlab (lots of wires, i can post pics of the inside if you are interested).
I just moved from columbus ohio to carson city nevada........its really nice here, but i miss columbus.
yeah, i think the kee bass is in the whip it video. the key board has a ground buss, so rays other keyboard circuit will work for it (i think, i havent tried yet though).
I will post closer pictures later.
Thanks,
Ryan |

Thanks wouldn't mind seeing a pick just to get an idea what I'm
getting into. Seems like the perfect companion for the soundlab.
Nice curves on the case. Yeh, Columbus ain't all that bad. I was just
out in Denver and it was nice to come home.
I have a ? since we're on the topic of keyboards. Could you take a midi keyboard an get/make a midi to cv converter and use it for your keyboard?
Oh and lanxe what modules are in your modular? _________________ "your stripes are killer bro" |

Given that the soundlab conforms to the 1V "standard and so forth, sure.. and Paia.com has some stuff for just that. Hmm.. wouldn´t a Paia "modular" be a cute companiion to a Soundlab synth? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Not as cute as a Paia ribbon controller and a soundlab- now that would be really nice
I'm lucky enough to have a Wiard Wogglebug too. I can't wait to patch that into my impending soundlab!!
For 50 US bucks too? Is this a typo error?

Mr. Simonton clearly has the right attitude. 52 USD it is.
