Stupid switch question

So I found a momentary switch laying around. Its got 3 solder lugs 2 the same size and 1 longer. The longer one is the ground right? I'm guessing its a spdt.

Ground is a relative term when talking about switches. You can connect the terminals on the switch to anything you want.

If you have a momentary switch with three terminals, then the usual thing is that center lug will be connected to one of the lugs when not pushed, and when you push it it will connect the center lug to the other one while disconnecting it from the first one. Check what is happening with an ohmmeter.
