WW2 gun cam footage? |
 |
|
I am working on getting public domain material for a video production. I am looking for digitized WW2 footage. Just after WW2 and the korean war the US was flooded with gun cam footage. You could like buy these all over the place, like at your local photo store. Hmm.. and not just gun cam, but also bomber target footage etc.
At the moment I am especially interested in material related to the allied bombing of Germany, and material from the Pacific.. like the landing on Tarawa.
Anyone? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I'm moving this the the WANTED forum. Seems more appropriate.
Do you get the Discovery Wings channel on your cable system in Norway? This has this kind of material on all the time. |

Ahh.. this is a better place to put this post!
Well, no... but we do have the scandinavian version of Discovery channel here.. but I do not have cable at the moment. I will probable get cable in the spring of 2004.. hopefully-... this is Norway.
On the other hand.. stealing sections of programs might be a copyright infringement. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I know, I have been downloading those huge editable MP4 files for days. I reckon I have still some 50 gigs to go until I have the lot. I suspect there must be similar european sources too, but the BBC haven\t yet opened their archive. I am hoping for dutch, danish, german and french sources.. etc. Archive.org is excellent though. I recommend checking out the World War 1 and World War 2 sections. Some of the US cold war propaganda material is excellent. I love those movies in defence of capitalism. Serious fun. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

| Sorry I can't help you with finding the material, but have you found any footage of the" bouncing bomb" used by the allies? I've seen tests of the "bouncing bomb" devised by the Brittish in order to destroy German dams (it was a cylindrical bomb that was dropped at 60 ft. after reaching 500 rpm in order to skip across the water, make contact with the dam, and sink along the dam's wall for a direct-contact explosion that would destroy the dam with one bomb if used precisely). Overall, it was a very clever application of physics to meet a specific need, and it makes good footage. |

Yes... I have seen some footage taken during tests in Scotland. I have several documentaries on the subject, and I suspect there must be something online too. Perhaps the BBC has some of this online.. somewhere.. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
