I am trying to make a controller patch for ableton live 5.
When I use the midi controller module connected with constant switch toggling I can assign each mixer channel to an rotary encoder and assign "mute" to the button. I know there is no talkback function with this module but - when i move the volume fader in live the knob leds are changing (!) aswell as it turns in the editor. When i then move the knob on G2 it skips to its previously value. Is this a bug? The leds are lying this way.

To bad there isn't a button in the automate module!

I would think about the Behringer BCR2000.
click on the "search" button looking for it, you'll see how many G2 and Ableton Live users have chosen it as controller.
Also look for the BCF2000 it has motorized faders that receive data back from Live. I have tried it, it's cool Very Happy

I know about the BCF but I want use my G2 as a controller. Read my question again please.
I wonder why the MIDI "CtrlSend" module responds to ctrl data fom Live when it changes its value, but when I touch the knob it skips to its previously value before I changed it in Live?

This sounds like the classical mididata loop thing.. Ableton seems to send to the G2..but the G2 trys to prevent the dataloop and is maybe in a state inbetween the external and internal setting..
You might use midi automate modules instead of cntrl send modules..only problems with them is that knobs react slower..
Also check this patch
http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-3808.html
It uses the automate modules and control send modules...
I ve to do a new version soon...

How does the BCR2000 address the midi loop issue so that the leds and position of knobs update with incoming midi while not causing issues? I used to have a IBK 10Control that worked fine this way, but I never really understood how it worked so that there were no issues with the midi loop.

Can the G2 be setup to do the same so that it can work in the same way as a BCR2000 (or is this something that Clavia still needs to work on to make it work effectively as a midi controller)?

The midi automate module works this way, but there is no button on it. That means that you cannot assigne volume and mute one one knob/button.

You don't have 'Local Control' on in the G2, do you? That might cause your problem... only a guess though Embarassed

I think I had a midi loop problem, with my multiple midi interface its possible to patch internally betwen the ports. It works as its suposed to, the leds are not changing on the G2 anymore when I change value on live.

What are the file types for Ableton Live? We can add them to the list of allowable filetypes. This pch2 file will certainly confuse somebody someday when they find it in the archives and try to load their G2.

thanks
