June Solstice 2020 live streaming event Subject description: Signup is closed |
 |
|
Here we go again, the sun the earth another event you know the deal or maybe not, in which case you should, where have you been ?
There are some experiments with video streaming going on behind the scenes of electro-music.com so maybe an extra visual dimension
will be added to the upcoming concert. For more info about that keep an eye on this thread.
This event will be on electro-music radio on Saturday June 20, 2020.
It will start somewhere around 15:00 GMT and end whenever it is over depending on the number of participants.
The schedule can be found in the wiki and threads to previous events can be found here.
As always, if you are interested in performing, please copy/paste this Sign-Up template and post in this thread:
1. Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time):
2. Set Length (30 or 60 minutes):
3. Artist Name (For displaying on the poster):
4. Chat Name (if different from artist/forum name):
5. Location (City/State/Country - Optional):
6. Description (Style/Genre/Equipment, etc. - Optional):
7. Website Address (Optional):
8. Anything else you like to mention:
For reference, this clock could be useful:
First Time Streamers Please Read:
Please review the Electro Music Copyright Policy
Please note: "Preferred Start Time". We will do the best that we can to accommodate people to their requested times. However, please be flexible because this event will have European and American musicians in many different time zones. Time slots will be on a semi-"first come-first served" basis. Furthermore, please post your time in GMT. The handy clock should make it simple. However, we do use military/24 hour time. It will undoubtedly be an international event and GMT is the only way to coordinate such events.
As in the past, the chat room will serve as an invaluable communication tool for set up, streaming, and connecting to those listening....and it's just a lot of silly fun! I suggest participants get familiar with it in advance, if you aren't already.
If you want a recording of your set, it would be prudent to record your own set, rather than depend on others. Accidents and mistakes happen...especially in this format. There are many ways to record your set, either thru the stream app or record your stream from your mixer on the signal path to the computer.
Performers MUST stream at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo.
more info about broadcasting on radio.electro-music.com can be found here.
It is IMPERATIVE that everyone test their connections before we start streaming. At least 24 hours before but sooner is preferred. Sorry, but we can not guarantee that musicians will be allowed to stream if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time. Join the chat room for testing and help setting up.

Alright, 11 days, good luck everybody, on your set. That is amazing, you figure out how to live stream, how did you do that? Say, is it complicated or as tricky sometimes as I imagine it would be? Or does it usually go down as planned? Thanks from Kyle Eparoo _________________ Old School Plm |

People before me figured it out and the admins did an amazing job implementing streaming features on electro-music.com.

Streaming itself is pretty easy to do although sometimes people have some trouble setting it up but in the end it usually works out.
For more info on how to set it up you can have a look at the connection details wiki page
The logistics of organizing an event were also largely worked out before me and together we improve things over time.
What's helpful is that people that sign up seem to take notice of still available time slots which makes it easier for me to put together a schedule (Thanks!).
During the events itself it is all coordinated from the chatroom and apart from some occasional absentees or connection problems it works out great
and I am always amazed by the quality and variety of the music that is being broadcasted.
We also do occasional latency jams here where 2 or more people jam together. Most of the time this means that there is 1 person that mixes streams
together and sends out the final mix to the radio. Of course there is always some latency so syncing up is not really possible this way (except for the
person that does the final mix) but it can give some surprising results. Recently Blue Hell did a great job coding up a mixing page that can make it even
more convenient. Of course you could also use something like ninjam if you wish. _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"
