I think it's best to go with the LDR's included..and yes, it's probably unnecessary for me to say anything about anything

PCB and LDR's here too. I've been this route and know just how much 'fun' can be had working through permutations of different LDR's and light sources. _________________ Mike |

I'm ready to take orders for this now.
(See http://www.jhaible.heim.at/compact_clone/compact_clone.html
for details about the project.)
Pricing is EUR 27.00 per board,
plus EUR 10.00 for 8 LDRs
plus a single EUR 4.00 shipping flat charge for worldwide shipping,
regardless how many boards you are ordering and where you live.
It does *not* include any customs fees or tax that you may (or may not) have
to pay in your county.
What you get is a double-sided printed circuit board with component overlay,
approx. size 160mm x 100mm, plus eight LDRs (Light depending resistors).
You have to buy the other electronic components for this, and build the device,
yourself. (Check the above website regularly for updates and building hints,
bill of matrials etc. A PDF with the component overlay is already there.)
I'll wait for the orders to come in for about 2 weeks from now.
Estimated time line:
2 weeks for taking orders
several weeks for PCB manufacturing and verifying
Call for payment (don't pay before you get that mail!)
Shipping of boards when payment arrives
I don't know whether shipping will be before Chrismas, or in the next year.
I will only ask for payment when the boards are ready for shipping.
(Don't send any money before that.)
If you want to place an order, please send me an email to the following
adress:
jhaible/-/at/-/debitel/-/dot/-/net (remove and replace the obvious
characters)
and use the FOLLOWING FORM (fill in your data instead of [],
for instance: "2 Boards" instead of "[quantity] Boards")
Don't forget the *subject line* with the right quantity filled in, in your email!
===== Start of Email Order Form ===============
Subject line: Krautrock Phaser order: [quantity] boards
Email text:
I'm ordering [quantity] pieces of the Krautrock Phaser PCB
for EUR 27.00 per board
+ EUR 10.00 for 8 LDRs per board
+ EUR 4.00 single shipping flat charge for any
number of boards.
I'm aware that I may have to pay additional amounts of customs and tax in my
country.
My shipping adress is
[Your Name]
[Your street, number, city, ZIP code, in exactly the form
that is generally used in your country]
[your country]
My paypal adress is [your paypal adress].
[your name]
===== End of Email Order Form =========
Looking forward to hear fom you

WOW! FAB!!!
The only thing JH, the above email address instruction is confusing the hell out of me. Can you put your email here in 'laymans' terms. ie simply? It's the hyphens. are they supposed to be there? I presume that the strokes are removed too? Sorry for being so dense.

Sorry for being so cryptic. But last time I posted my email adress here - and evenremoved it after a few hours! - the spam in my mailbox incresed from 20 to 80 per day.
Replace at and dot with the obvious, and remove the /-/.
If in doubt, you can go to my web site (follow the button below each posting) , and also find my email adress there.

assembled compact clone phasers
I got a big order for these PCBs from Touched by Sound, the company who helped fund my initial Compact Clone project in 1999.
That means - hold your breath! - that in good likelihood there will be readily assemled Phasers available, too.
I don't know anything about pricing, or when they will be available.
If you have questions about this, please contact them directly via their web site: http://www.touched-by-sound.com/
While I'm not involved in this project other than selling the PCBs, I know that Michael is very enthusiastic about this particular phaser, and I'm glad to see something being completed that started 8 years ago.

update
I placed my order for the Krautrock Phaser (as it is officially called now) at the PCB house today.
I've ordered a few exta boards, and there probably will probably be some overproduction as with previous boards - but the official pre-order phase is over now.
If you place a Krautrock PCB order from now on, you'll be put on a waiting list, with a pretty good chance that you'll still get one.
I will restrict answering to mails to an absolute minimum, as I'm still occupied with packing all these Triple Chorus boards.
Thanks again to all, for participating in my PCB projects!

The "Krautrock Phaser" eh? My suggestion??
Very cool- and many, many thanks for making this wonderful project happen, JH!
My next suggestion will be a CS80 clone! (joke of course!) _________________ ACHTUNG!

The relay and the heatsinks, probably. Both Reichelt and Mouser are out for me (Reichelt has a 150 euro minimum order and Mouser charges a zillion dollars shipping).
Do you have a pinout for the relay? I have found an Omron 12V DPDT one locally, but usually pinouts differ from one manufacturer to the next. I found a PDF on de Meder site, but that uses 12-character part numbers, so I can't match that to the BOM. _________________ http://www.casia.org/modular/ |

The relay is a DIL relay - that means it fits into a standard DIP16 IC footprint. I've bought a few Finder 30.22.9 relays yesterday which _should_ fit in and work. I'll know for sure when I've tested them; which I'll do on the second prototype. (I always build a second prototype from the production run of the PCBs. The first is from the prototyping companie's PCB.)
Heat sinks: You can probably use a dozend different types - you have to try and find out, and then share your findings on the forum if you like.
The one I've chosen fits into the board, and are stabilized by the board. That way, you get away without insulating the transistors and regulators against the heat sink. With less mechanical stability, the use of insulation is recommended, to avoid destruction when adjacent heat sinks touch.

Update
I got the PCBs today!
It will take a few weeks before I'll get the LDRs though.
Speaking of the LDRs, there's a slight dilemma.
I have accepted Krautrock Phaser PCB orders long after my "deadline" this time, and I still can accept orders for about 35 .. 40 boards. (The usual overproduction thing that has been pleasant for everybody involved for my first two projects as well.)
The problem is that I cannot stock much over-cpacity of LDRs, because I don't make much profit from them (I'm basically offereing to provide them with the boards as a favor, due to heavy demand), so I don't want to end up sitting on 300 LDRs.
So the deal is this:
I'm still accepting orders for PCBs + LDRs until 01.01.2008 (or until the overproduction of PCBs is spoken for, whatever comes comes first.)
If I have any boards left after 01.01.2008, I'll only sell these boards without LDRs.

You shouldn't have, for this project.
*If* you have, please remind me (with date of when you sent the money), when you get an invoice.
I try to handle all that stuff strictly in order:
1) get the boards myself
2) send invoices & receive money
3) send boards.
