I've got two new pieces up that are a bit different for me; Noghe Wodihe which loosely means 'wolverine tales' - don't know how well it fits the definition of 'trance' music but it's a manufactured chant accompanied by other repeating motifs that does a fair job of zoning you out if you open up to it. Seems to be getting some good attention.

The other is called Simoon which came together somewhat like the art of zen flower arranging out of small bits and pieces I found on my drive. Abstract ambience that will probably be added to the YellowJacket soundtrack.

Noghe Wodihe at ElectronicScene

Simoon at ElectronicScene

Simoon at SoundClick

Hope you enjoy. Cool

Simoon is very nice... Didn't listen to the first one as electronicscene requires you join up to listen. Soundclick now has pop up ads.

You bet. I'd be happy to post them here - but never done that before - didn't see anything obvious on the media page for an upload link, so... How do I do that? dunno

I'll check back ltr. I'm on copper wire here so it'd take a while. Thx. Very Happy

You attach files to the post.. you can actually edit old posts of yours.. find the attachment section in the editor window and add a file.. no probs.. uploading takes a while anyway.. but delivery from our server is pretty decent

2 very good and effective pieces..i enjoyed them..

i feel that the mix could benefit from being 'softer', quieter..

the higher level pushes it into a slightly brittle place, taking away from the ambient effect

Noghe is very nice. Reminds me of phase music that Steve Reich does. I like this one very much. Sounds very intelligent. Maybe this is some form of IDM.

Good comment. You had me rethinking what I was going after with these pieces. And actually I suppose Simoon may be 'ambient' conceptually (using the old Websters def) but perhaps not sonically (as we've come to think of ambient music). I do like big sounds that wash over the listener Very Happy .

Noghe Wodihe never was headed in the direction of that kind of ambience as, if anything, it probably grows out of my playing in drumming groups with skin drums - very meditational, and definitely an encompassing sound (the whole room usually resonates) but also quite assertive.

Very Happy Defined as ' intelligent dance music'? Yeah - could be. I can see the Reich connection too, although he's not someone I usually listen to. I usually get lost in the genre maze. And I don't dance - at least not in public - so I dunno. It got very good response, so it's got some kind of hook in it. Cool

I had assumed that if I was already soaking up space at various OMDs, I'd just be unnessecarily taking up space on the EM server. But in the future if I've got something particularly tasty, I'll boost a copy here too.

I really liked Simoon - it reminded me of Rothko, like something from their A Negative for Francis LP.

When Noghe Wodihe started I didn't think I was going to like it - but I got lost in this one. Real trance music. I think you need to do an extended mix of this one, 30mins would be about right!

I don't agree with the suggestions about softening the sounds, the levels are good on both tracks.

I'm listening to Noghe Wodihe for a second time now and it's messing with my brain beautifully.

Keep them coming!!
