The creative class needs superior tools to produce designs, music, high-definition video or the next scientific breakthrough. The new Power Mac G5 line spans as far as you require. Its dual 64-bit G5 processors — with speeds of up to 2.5GHz — room for up to 8GB of main memory, 8X SuperDrive and ultrahigh-bandwidth system architecture will give you more results than systems costing twice as much. Models start at $1999.

Uhhhh... nice

And the 3GHZ CPUs are in the pipeline soon.. prob by late november
Then they will add even higher bandwidth on the motherboard.. and the 64bit version of OSX goes prime time

Well.. this is advertising agency speak. Some smart dude has convinced Apple that this is how they must communicate with parts of the market they already have. Most of us see this new thingie as simply a nice computer..

On a test of 45 commonly used actions, Adobe Photoshop ran almost twice as fast on a dual 2.5 GHz Power Mac G5 than on a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4-based PC;

Logic Pro 6 on the dual 2.5 GHz Power Mac G5 played up to 138 more tracks with reverbs (over four times more) than with Cubase SX on a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4-based PC; and

Final Cut Pro HD running on a 2.5 GHz Power Mac G5 can run eight streams of 8-bit SD video versus five streams on a dual 3.06 GHz Xeon-based Avid workstation.

I am aware of that.. and the poor guys have to say that. But it is still not quite true. Truth is that they are working like hell in order to get there. Hopefully before XMAS.
