Micromodular |
 |
|
I use my Micro as a 'preset' box now... for 'Moog' type leads and some audio processing. I have not done any programming for several years.
New Nord sounds are done on my Lead 2X. |

From the first post in this thread :
Quote: | i hope that when Nord Clavia sees how many people are still using these synths they will reconsider their position and either update the editor software and continue to support it or release the source code so a third party could create an updated software solution.

Micro modular in use |
 |
|
Hey. Recently came back to the micro modular fold; I had one back '98-'99 that I sold for a nord modular keyboard (wish I still had that!)
Running the OG editor on a Win XP netbook. |

1)st... i waited for the nm for years to be mac compatible.. i was a wealthy musican back than... could have easyli afforded to just go in the shop and pick one.. instead years later i bought one second hand of a friend.. looked like new anyway...
I think thats the reason the the mac editor maybe didnt made much new sells.. but a huge swoop on the second hand market toward mac owners..
I have some neighbor studios here ..anyone of them is on mac.. all have a NM1..all bought it second hand...
Ok.. its just 3 studios in the 50-100 meter distance.. dont know how this is ditributed world wide.. but there might be a tendency...
2) the old dream might be more actual than ever...
people here in berlin are buying analog modulars like mad wright now...
Theese Schneiders Büro Shop is very good in biz sofar i ve heard.
More and more companys that produce modules appear..
There is a strong tendency toward modular synthesis..
And towards hardware aswell..
Maybe the nord modular is not hardware enough.. but than again.. its so much more transportable than an similar powerfull analog modular synth..
I think they was just very early with theire dream..
would be maybe a mistake to see this as a dated...
never give up too early |

its true that the "modular thing" is becoming a big fad / phenomenon again and schneiders büro might be the epicenter for craze..
and some of these old nords could maybe be considered vintage by now.
what i like about them is how well they blend the digital (portability/possibilties) with the analog (work flow). but this also means that they are not "pure analog" machines which all the fetishists love. .. but who know - maybe they will be re-discovered again someday
i still love my nmm - just spent a couple hours making new sounds with it. . only 3 crashes! |

1 NM G1 unexpanded.
Use it still occasionally, but a bit inconvenient now with so many options of VST-s. _________________ http://www.kaspartorn.eu |

"3 crashes"?
mine have never 'crashed'!
what I am surprised by though, is that no one have ever pulled a mm apart and placed it in a frac rack module within an analogue modular or something. The micromodular loaded with some really useful and unique patches would make a ver versatile addition to any setup I reckon.
The only thing I never liked about the NM were its envelopes. I never found them very musical (compared with say, the envelopes in one of Yamaha's DX range. I've also got a DX27. The DX27 envelopes are lovely. They just sound so sweet!).
