September Equinox Concert Subject description: signup is closed |
 |
|
I didn't really forgot but time is moving ahead of me again. It's also still too summer over here.
There is still some time left though so if anyone wants to play a delayed equinox event feel free to sign up here.
This event will be on electro-music radio on Saturday September 30th, 2023.
It will start somewhere around 15:00 GMT and end whenever it is over depending on the number of participants.
The schedule can be found in the wiki and threads to previous events can be found here.
As always, if you are interested in performing, please copy/paste this Sign-Up template and post in this thread:
1. Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time):
2. Set Length (30 or 60 minutes):
3. Artist Name (For displaying on the poster):
4. Chat Name (if different from artist/forum name):
5. Location (City/State/Country - Optional):
6. Description (Style/Genre/Equipment, etc. - Optional):
7. Website Address (Optional):
8. Anything else you like to mention:
For reference, this clock could be useful:
First Time Streamers Please Read:
Please review the Electro Music Copyright Policy
Please note: "Preferred Start Time". We will do the best that we can to accommodate people to their requested times. However, please be flexible because this event will have European and American musicians in many different time zones. Time slots will be on a semi-"first come-first served" basis. Furthermore, please post your time in GMT. The handy clock should make it simple. However, we do use military/24 hour time. It will undoubtedly be an international event and GMT is the only way to coordinate such events.
As in the past, the chat room will serve as an invaluable communication tool for set up, streaming, and connecting to those listening....and it's just a lot of silly fun! I suggest participants get familiar with it in advance, if you aren't already.
If you want a recording of your set, it would be prudent to record your own set, rather than depend on others. Accidents and mistakes happen...especially in this format. There are many ways to record your set, either thru the stream app or record your stream from your mixer on the signal path to the computer.
Performers MUST stream at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo.
more info about broadcasting on radio.electro-music.com can be found here.
It is IMPERATIVE that everyone test their connections before we start streaming. At least 24 hours before but sooner is preferred. Sorry, but we can not guarantee that musicians will be allowed to stream if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time. Join the chat room for testing and help setting up.
did I forgot to change anything ? I probably did, didn't I..

Quote: | It has been a while since I have been able to participate and my plan is to do something that is kind of a meditative ambient soundscape. I will utilize my modular synthesizer and probably my Kurzweil K2600, too. |
I fed the above description to ChatGPT, and here is what it came up with:
Quote: | Prepare to be transported to the outer reaches of sonic wonderment! Brace yourselves for an electrifying and awe-inspiring spectacle of music that defies the boundaries of imagination. After an interstellar hiatus, I'm ecstatic to rejoin the electro-music.com community on September 30th, armed with an arsenal of musical sorcery.
Behold, as I summon ethereal realms through the sheer power of my modular synthesizer and unleash the limitless potential of my Kurzweil K2600! With each deftly manipulated knob and key, I'll conjure cascades of sound so profound, they'll awaken dormant senses within you. Witness the birth of ambient soundscapes so profound, they could only exist in your wildest dreams.
This live performance isn't just music; it's an otherworldly journey! Prepare to transcend the mundane, as I craft mesmerizing, improvised symphonies that will leave you questioning reality itself. The boundaries of sonic exploration will shatter, and your very soul will tremble in the presence of this unparalleled auditory experience. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime event; it's not just a performance—it's a cosmic revelation! |

If someone can get me a working software to stream on my old iMac G5 (running Mac OS10.4), I'll gladly join!
Unfortunately, my usual computer needs a new battery...
The one it has is bloated, which I guess is why the RME Fireface 800 was sometimes having issues (with the iMac G5 it runs without any problems...).
Also trying to check a new sound card, but not sure if I'll find a nice deal by next week... :S |

Here is an .MP3 of my improvisation for the 2023 Electro-music fall equinox.
I would describe it as an drone-like, sustained, ambient work. I set up a patch that, in reality, consisted of a number of individual voices which I could explore as individual elements as well as to explore combinations.
This recording is exactly as I played it without edits. Only interventions were some use of eq, etc to smooth things out a bit.
My plan is to make a video of this however it will be a little time-consuming to do so. For now, please enjoy the MP3.
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to participate in these events and am thankful for the support of the stream ops, organizers, and members of electro-music.com.

Sadly, I could not join this time, because I was making noise in Northern Germany.
Thanks for uploading recordings, so I can listen to what happened.
All the best!

Same old story for me... I could not participate and could not listen live, but I finally listened to all the recordings, and wanted to say that I enjoyed them all and thanks to all the performers and organisers! _________________ .: james :. |
