Wow - just for the hell of it I tried to spell check a PM in norwegian, and it worked! Excellent
The word "Takk" was highlighted in red though.

Hmmm... is there no longer any norwegian spell checking? I just ran a text through it, and the spellchecker didn't know any norwegian to speak of. How is it for other languages? We write english in the forums of course - I'm just curious about what's up with the spellchecker, and if it is meant to support other languages than english (useful for PM's).
BTW: is 'spellcheck' (as in the SpellCheck button) supposed to be a valid word? It is in dictionaries AFAIK

Aha! Did it support norwegian (and others) previously, or is norwegian in reality a subset of russian and english? I can swear it OK-ed norwegian for me previously, as per the OP in this thread ... any idea how that can have happened?

I never installed the Russian module. My guess is that there is a built-in spellchecker in Safari. Maybe that is what kicked in one time.
I can add words to the dictionary. I just added spellchecker, BTW. If you have some Norwegian words to add, just let me know. _________________ --Howard

There is a systemwide SC you can call up whenever you need it. It doesn´t work well within the spellchecker here though. Mr. Leistad is of course not currently on a mac yet though. Not all norwegians are mac geeks. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

OK, if he's not on a Mac we need another explanation. That Safari spellchecker was a bit of a stretch anyways.
There can be only one reasonable explanation then, DrJustice slipped into an alternate universe where PHPSpell has a working Norwegian word list installed. I believe in the principle that if there are several explanations, use the simplest one. See: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-10274.html _________________ --Howard

Mosc, I think you want a '?' in that URL. I guess it too slipped into an alternate universe, as I may have done. Pesky things all these universes; you never know which one you are in and wich one you are supposed to be in
Elektro80, there are no recollections of egyptian drums at the time, but I may or may not have heard recitals of Heimskringla - it's all a bit blurry now...

Done. Thanks. Errr, ummm, well... I did have a '?' in there when I made that post. Must have been in an alternate... you know... _________________ --Howard
