Here is my new midi controller. I wanted a guitar-note layout with the ability to 'hammer on' the notes, as opposed to plucking with right hand, and also polyphony per 'string column'-- that is, multiple notes at different 'fret positions' on each of the string columns. The range of notes covers E1 to E8. It is made with the use of Ableton Live software in mind, where buttons on the panel at the base of the necks generate MIDI cc's to be used for toggling on/off effects and session tracks.

I worked with http://www.midiboutique.com who advised me on the components, designed and assembled the circuit boards and shipped these to me. I shipped them the buttons, provided conceptual drawings and MIDI mappings for programming.

Both necks pre-assembled, with controller boards as they will be placed (but not yet mounted/covered):

(edit) the note range covers E1 through E8. One might say that as a thing with buttons that do things, it is kind of wasteful, because due to the note layout you can play the same notes in different places, so different buttons do the same thing. But the note layout is what I wanted. Here's what the single, longer neck looks like (the buttons match up wonderfully, just that the boards not yet completely secured into place in this photo)...

Very nice! Congratulations. Cool

The midiboutique.com site is great. Lots of fine products. They could easilly already be my favorite Bulgarian midi component supplier. Laughing

Please keep us up to date as you finish up this project, and let's hear what kind of music comes from it.
