In Dutch "hearth" has strong conotations of "home" as in "safe and familiar". Sounds like a good way of describing the more pleasant side of nationalism to me....

In reading this thread, I'm reminded of the Mel Brooks movie, "2000 Year Old Man". In it he has what he claims is the oldest national anthem:

That's an interesting article. Excellent points. The Republican mantra that if you take good care of the rich, the poor are better off doesn't hold up anymore than Soviet Communism.

I think the U.N. are playing a fairly dangerous game here but I fear it's the only option they have. This issue touches on many topics in how the U.S. relates to the rest of the world and I fear it's time that everyone had a little talk. It'll be interesting to see how this develops.

It was free when I read it. It's not worht a pound anyway; it's all stuff we all already know.

Basically it says; "if you live in the U.S. and are black poor or both and you get sick the you are f*ed. black childeren die in their first year much more often then white ones and that stuff is cmparable to the situation in realy poor countries typically seen as 3rd world."

if your definition is being a kick-ass dude who totally rocks and kills at least four terrorists per day...then yes. i would be considered partriotic as all shit.

ok, maybe i exxagerated the actual number of terrorists i kill on a daily basis. some days it's only like one but somedays it really is like four.

i kill terrorists with my designs. they're usually like damn that was sweet and then they blow their brains out. it's great.

Yeah, I wanted to run those but it turrns out there is no I.E. for Debian and the bugs haven't yet been ported to Firefox. I was also unable to manually run the VB scripts, perhaps Wine would help? Did you have better luck running virtual pc?
