I fixed it! Subject description: Eurodesk MX 3282A back from the edge |

I've just fixed an MX 3282A mixing desk!
I won't go into all the details unless someone particularly wants to hear them, but to cut a long story short, a 30K resistor went O/C. Which led to all kinds of other problems. I traced them all back to the offending resistor and fixed them all!
I now definately regard myself as a professional audio electronics technician. My confidence has gone through the roof! _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

For that job I got AU$100 and two bottles of wine.
I know there are electronics technicians out there who can easily ask 3-4 times that, but in Nambucca Heads you have to "create" business through "on the fly" marketing strategies.
Or in other words, when I get swamped with work I'll start hiking up my rate! _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

I don't know electronics well. But I do know that those mixers are great to use live when they work. For some strange reason I've seen 4 or 5 with dead channels or sections and I was told that they were "blown" buy overdriving the channel inputs. In each case they were previously owned by a band that didn't know how to properly set up the gain structure. Sounds like you're on your way to a great reputation if you can fix those consoles they way they are put together.

Yeah, pretty good. Slowly getting a reputation (mostly good ), slowly building up clientele. I'm about to start another full time course at TAFE, a Cert IV in Business Administration. And there's a possibility of a full time job as an IT support technician at the bank coming up. I wouldn't have any time for TAFE or tutorials if I get it, but I'd still keep doing the electro-music-Technician thing under my own private business name. Around here, full time job opportunities are rare as hen's teeth. Ones in IT are like hen's wisdom teeth! Passing them up just isn't an option. Still, imagine all the SDIY stuff I could afford if I had a full time job! _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |
