Nord Modular Editor Crashing Subject description: midi problems w/ NM Editor + Win XP |
 |
|
Hi
Few weeks ago i bought this great red box. However, i've had big problems w/ midi + editor. When i started to check out some patches from harddrive editor crashes and i mean really bad way . My DAW wont even shutdown after that!
I tryed to solve this by removing NM PC MIDI I/O from sequencer, but this didnt help much, still crashing. I have sequencer and editor open sametime. I dont have any clues what should i do..
NM works great w/ sequencer, no hassle, but when i go Editor side thing s get ugly , i missing the biggest fun.
any help is welcome.

ps. midi-interface = Emagic Unitor 8, OS = Win XP. |

Is the editor hanging (freezing) or is it giving you some error messages prior to crashing?
I once had a problem of losing the MIDI connection. This would crash the editor sometimes. A new MIDI interface improved my MIDI bandwidth and solved the problem for me. Dunno if this helps,

I think i solved it. Seems that my midi-interface - Emagic Unitor 8 dosent like NM. I connected NM PC Midi I/O(s) to my EMU 1820-M and had no freezing/crashes _________________ "You don't have to go through all this trouble, it's easy, just give me four diodes and i'll build you a ring modulator."-Don Buchla |

Sounds like you got a midi loop going somewhere.
Unusual behaviour like this is a classic sign.
I had bought a brand new sampler, connected it to my midi patch bay, a program change got sent which caused the patch in the patch bay to change, and started a midi loop back to the sampler.
All the buttons stopped working, the display went crazy, nearly had a heart attck myself |

Yeah .. Actually i'm not sure if i solved problem but atleast NM's editor didnt crash on last session, since this freezing is random - i need to test little bit more . NM is on 'Local Off' -mode, which should be also right, when using w/ external sequencer. _________________ "You don't have to go through all this trouble, it's easy, just give me four diodes and i'll build you a ring modulator."-Don Buchla |

You can also try running the editor in Compatibility mode. I had to do this for the NM editor, but not for the G2 editor. |

I'm back! . Back to the topic. I'm still getting those _freezes_, any ideas how i can address whats happening in my system and whats causing the crashes ?. _________________ "You don't have to go through all this trouble, it's easy, just give me four diodes and i'll build you a ring modulator."-Don Buchla |

Yeah, there's only: General, Version, Security, Summary -tabs. And i doubt this makes problems go away since Java editor also crashes. _________________ "You don't have to go through all this trouble, it's easy, just give me four diodes and i'll build you a ring modulator."-Don Buchla |
