Hi NM Lovers

Got a technical Q about the Nord Modular...I want to make an "engine" out of my NM(some keys are broken), but the fact is that the sound doesn't work with the upper knob/LCD panel cable unpluged.
Does anybody knows if the sound engine can work without the front panel?

If not I will try to make a DIY Box/enclosure (metal/plexi).If only I could get my hands on a real Nord Modular Rack enclosure...

A good start for a DIY rack will be a 3U 19" rack http://www.metcase.com/products/metcase/mettec19-fr.htm or http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=34159&doy=30m7

Thanks

BTW:anybody knows where I can find a NM "keyboard key" replacement?

The motherboard will always try to find the knobs on the frontpanel, so it will stop booting...

Try your local dealer if they can sell you

in 25 keys configuration.

Probably Clavia could help you with a new keybard, I just had a look at it (I do have defective one here as well (and also a good one)) but it's unlabeled ... IIRC there was some info under the keys.

As to the no sound problem, likely the synth sees the pots as set to zero when not present ... including the main volume pot? So maybe you should trace that one out and connect it. It would be handy to have a main volume anyway I think.

I could not expect better answers from anybody else than you two when it comes to NM Classic Very Happy

You must know that I was about to reduce the metal case of my NM Key to make a NM Rack out of it.... Embarassed but then decide to keep it as it is and make myself a rack with a DIY box/enclosure in case I want my 'Old' NM key Classic back.
The fact is that I want to gain space..I know it could sound ridiculous when we think about that..

...but the front panel of the G1 is not the G2 key, I mean I do not use it(bcr/bcf2000), that is why I thought about making a G1 Engine. What I can do also is to find a longer internal cable to rack the sound board in a 19" case and the front panel in another one Rolling Eyes ...

Wout, Jan, Thanks for those wise advices Idea
