Here's my evidence.

New sample libraries are too big to fit in Wave memory.

Nord Piano Library doesn't work with Wave, though updated Wave OS promised.

Nord Stage gets replaced by Nord Stage EX.

NovaMusik offers "blowout sale" on Stage and Wave. (They're selling a brand new Stage 88 for $2100 and a Wave for $2000, in contrast with $3300 and $2700 elsewhere).

I wonder if we're going to see a new improved Wave soon, along with an OS retrofit for existing Waves.

NovaMusik told me that the reason they're discounting the Wave is the switch of USA distributors.

Of course there could still be an update announced at Musikmesse, but maybe the new distributor is another explanation. FWIW, Dolphin Music is selling the Wave at 1599GBP (including VAT), which works out to 2334USD.
