Why do you think it is only for the G2x? Do you mean it is not included with the other G2 versions?

I think it is not a unique design. I haven't bothered looking into it, but I believe it is a fairly standard dynamic microphone, and probably a fairly low budget device. I think the mic was selling for around $US80 as an optional extra, from memory.

It wouldn't surpirse me at all, if Clavia just sourced the mic from some other manufacturer specialising in such things. This kind of thing is very commonly done, and is really not a bad way for businesses to operate.

In terms of quality, it is the best mic I own, but I almost never use mics, and definitely don't consider myself an expert. It certainly is fun to use with the G2.

Were you planning on using the mic with some other device? If so, be wary of phantom power. If I am correct about the mic being dynamic, then it should not be used with a phantom powered input (DC voltage applied to mic). You would need something with a suitable mic pre-amp. Of course, one would also only use other dynamic mics with the G2 mic input.

Cheers,

Oli

I think the design of the microphone is made to be connected on a XLR input which is built in the front panel instead of the rear panel like it is made in the G2.So the microphone gets short to access, so i must bend in a very unconfortable way to get there. That doesn´t help when I need to play the keyboard for the vocoder function. The microphone needs an adaptor in an L form.Sorry for my poor english.
Peace out !! arrow

You are correct that the placement of the XLR jack is inconvenient on the G2 when compared with the G2X.

I solved this problem by buying a Shure A412B microphone stand. You can plug a gooseneck microphone such as the Korg into that.

Hey, no worries about English. Having pretty much only one language, I admire people using foreign language for any significant engagement.

I remember seeing photos of a band (I think it was Korn) with a guy bent right over his G2 to reach the mic.

The convenience is part of why I bought the G2X. I haven't used the mic much, but it sure is fun.
