This is the "What Say"?

I really enjoyed this one.

It reminds me of using "gate windows" with tape recorders and efx units. ( Trivia: gate windows describes a technique that uses gate events to open / mix and process audio feeds from various devices like tape decks and whatnot. )

Glad you enjoyed "What Say" elektro80

The "gate windows" technique sounds cool... haven't come across that first hand, sounds like fun to set up with multiple inputs. Is this midi related? I still haven't caught that bus yet.

I used to have fun with a drum machine through compressor/noise gate though, you know, write a pattern, let it groove and twiddle the knobs to let just the kick or just the cymbals come through. That's the only kind of gate I'm familiar with except the gates like the ones by Rodin but that was many moons ago... Wink

The "gate windows" stuff is based on the now "old" analog gear. It is just about patches that processes external sounds and you use gate events from all over for this purpose. It is not a specific patch as such.

You could set up elaborate patches using sequencers both for event triggering and envelopes.. a great way to create drones and whatnot.

Thanks for posting these links. Great stuff. Wish What Say was longer though. I like it.

I edited you post title. I think it will be easier to browse this forum if the artist name was mentioned in the subject.

Since I live in Philly, maybe you could fill me in on what is Philly style. Embarassed

Very cool. Why not add a link to the Links section. There is a folder for Radio Stations.

Hi mosc,

Glad you liked. Yes,"What Say" could certainly stand to be longer. I hope to develop the method I used to come up with that and apply it to a longer run one of these days.

"philly style" was just a way I wanted to work in that I'm from Philadelphia but also allude to how a lot of Philly musicians or sound artists are under ambitious. With the exception of stellar synthesist Charles Cohen or John J.H. Phillips, not many have made a career with music while staying in Philadelphia that I can think of. I mean for those who are pursuing something other than a career in pop rock or r'n'b. (Gamble and Huff were huge!)
Hmm maybe I should consider Bardo Pond who have an international fan base but I don't know if they quit their day jobs. Okay, there's also the ambient world famous Chuck van Zyl.. ahh there are probably more so okay, i'll retract the philly style thing. Embarassed

As for Headtones being in the links section, I did that a couple of months ago. You were working on fixing it so that the url would be accepted.
I know you've been busier than I could ever dream of being so I can see how it didn't ring a bell to you. Judging by your avatar it looks like you've been time travelling as well. Shocked and hey, aren't you really from just outside Philadelphia?

I'm sure I notified you but just in case, I included a couple of your mp3.com pieces awhile ago on one of the programs, "Black Light Pipe Dreams" -
http://www31.brinkster.com/headtones/headtonesradio.html#pipe
still available for replay Cool
