Finnish telecom outlaws text messages from Jesus

Devine intervention: A service promising to answer people's prayers with a text message sent by Jesus Christ has been shut down after complaints by Finland's mobile services watchdog.

The heavenly service offered answers from Jesus in response to a text message prayer at the cost of a hefty $1.52 per message, but lasted less than a month.

Finland's Mobile G Host transmitted the messages, but declined to name the company that provided the replies from "Jesus." Chief executive Marko Hakala said the service was axed as soon as he discovered what was being offered.

Yes, I have heard of that "service". I wonder how many people actually used it though!

I Googled quickly on the Finnish net and came up with one discussion about it. Someone sent the following message: "Oh Lord, please give me a brand new Lada 110". The answer came in a few seconds, saying: "Your prayer has been heard. Remember: If you don't obey God's will better than priests and Pharisees you will not get to Heaven".

It's amazing how inventive people who want some quick money can be...
