time quantizing? |
|
|
the pitch quantize functions are wonderful and facile.
has anyone built a time quantizer?
because if i had a pitch and time quantizer, i could just bash on the keys and sound great! _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:

that's a cool idea which i will surely find an application for, but i'm thinking more along the lines of something that might store and quantize a certain number of notes, not just gate the ones it likes.
like, just from a rythym sense, if i played
jh jkhkdjfh kjlasdf
it might spit out
j h j k h k d j f h (and then probably lose some data, because we'd be working with the logic modules) _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:

ways that i'd like to improve this (and maybe someone could help):
the overall effect is good, that you can play arpeggios, and it kind of mauls them, but keeps everything in time with the clock. that's working for me.
but what isn't working for me is the bit of triggering sloppiness. maybe it's a monophonic issue, but the notes seem like they're changing value independently of the timing. it might have to do with the amp decay relative to the clock...
also, it's not really elegant _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:

ahaha
so what i figured out that it's doing is this:
it stores your most current keystroke 8 in advance (per voice, so if you have the polyphony at 8 voices, it's doing this 64 values in advance) and then it plays the store values in order as you're hitting the keys-but it plays those in time with the clock. almost what i want. _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:

well, now it seems like the "shift register" delay module is the way to go. always wondered about that one. i'm confused why that isn't considered a logic module, or more appropriately, a "note" module. i guess because it's using the memory....
anyway.
so, looks like what i actually want to do is to create a kind of buffer, one which holds the last recieved values and then flushes them in time with the clock, and then stops triggering notes when there's no more notes in the buffer.
but now i gotta sleep. _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:
