Oenyaw, loveable as you are, I'm guessing that this year must be a special birthday for you to get all those FAB gifts. So, in a not-too-prying spirit: Are you turning thirty, forty, fifty or something?

A Harley, whooo! The freedom of the open road! Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance! I miss my motorcycle, but I cannot ride one because I tend to "tune out" and daydream a lot. Nearly killed myself twice on a bike.

More on-topic, I don't buy CD's, just iTunes songs. Occasionally I will buy a whole album like my VanHalen, Steely Dan, and Judas Priest albums, but usually I just get a couple of the more popular songs that I recognize from any given artist.

Interestingly, this practice has resulted in an iTunes collection that is mostly "Hit" songs so that when I "play DJ" for half-a-dozen people in the chatroom of my choice, everybody says they enjoy the music.

But now that I've spent some time on electro-music.com, I'm becoming more interested in the music of non-mainstream artists. Just recently I greatly enjoyed a song by Pug Fuglie, a new electro-music.com member, called "Visplane Overflow", though most of his other songs were not such a hit with me.

I also like my own songs, a bit self-indulgent I suppose, but I do play them occasionally.

Hey Andy, I have wanted to buy this recording. What is your description or your feelings about it?

I recently bought this CD:

Retic : Saturn Day Trajectory

If you like "Plaid" or "BOC" you will like this very well done recording.

You can find it here:

Cool! Well done, and a very nice thing to achieve, especially considering the alternative! Cool

I love this new album of theirs. Some lovely, dancey stuff but also catchy melodies!

ELECTROPOP! Very Happy

On my saturday walk today I got these:

Stephin Merrit: Showtunes
Does it Offend You Yeah: You have no idea what you're getting yourself into
They Might Be Giants: The Else

and... having just now watched Michel Gondry's "The Science of Sleep", I just had to get the soundtrack off iTunes. Man, that movie is like one big Björk video (Gondry has directed a couple of those). Makes me all emotional and misty-eyed in the same way too.

Today I bought Aretha Franklin, "Respect". It preceeds "Space Lord" from "Monster Magnets", the "Powertrip" Album. Is it art to chain such things together?

I like everything on your list but love:

Al Stewart "Year of the Cat"

Ahhh, what an album! It's such a journey. What melodies too - I always find myself humming 'Broadway Hotel,' so catchy.

Spirit "12 Dreams Of Dr. Saardonicus"

If I play 'Mr. Skin' when I'm DJing, peeps love it. Such a poptune!

Bought "My God" by Amy X Neuburg, she speaks to my generation, my 2000-nd-ness. For all of us, of all ages, are living in the year 2000 and beyond. How does Amy capture that so well? Got it on replay!

The 6ths: "Wasps' nests" and "Hyacinths and Thistles"

I've been addicted to Stephen Merrits's songs since I bought my first Magnetic Fields CD about a year ago. He's a wicked genius! He excels at the stuff that I often try my own hand at, plus razor-sharp lyrics.

Got a delivery from cdon today. I was starting to despair - my oddball orders tend to end up being out of stock and being cancelled after a while.

The Presets and Syzygys records are inspired by good words here on the forum (am going to listen to the Syzygys record now, very curious about how it will sound). I bought "Pause" by Four Tet over iTunes a while ago, and it was good enough for me to want to check out a physical Four Tet album.
