G2 Availability? Subject description: Semi personal / semi sociological inquiry

| For a few years I've noticed that G2s seemed rather thin on the ground. Oddly enough, despite being quite the fan of the G1, I never got around to picking up a G2. I'd like for that to change.
 However, two questions:

#1) What's the going price for the G2 now (rack and/or 3 oct version)?

#2) I've been a touch out of the loop. Did Clavia only produce a rather limited run of this unit or is its rarity on the used market more a commentary on owners being happy with their units?

I'm frankly amazed that, in a community as large as the net, I pretty much never see them going second hand.

Anyhoo, I'm still content with my G1 but.. if a G2 were to rise upon the horizon I'd be hard pressed to say no..

| They show up every now and then. So keep tuned to the second hand market.
Also watch out for other synths releases of new gear, because people tend to let go gear to get the money to buy that new one.

PS Clavia released a demo of the G2 platform, running on your computer and for free! (Yep, I'm Dutch)

The G2 would be a lot easier than a family!

| Check forums and small advertisements rather than ebay -- you might have luck there. I just grabbed a G2x for about 2K EUR, which is an insanely high price for a 7 year old discontinued product... but then again, it's about demand and supply _________________

The seller says he once had to glue the loose USB connector and then forgot about it so he decided to lower the initial asking price by a hundred euros after he remembered his DIY repair.

 Pretty good price.

| I've recently bought a 2nd modular. own a nmg2 expanded, and nmg2x. As said above , they pop up now and then. Prices differ between 1.5k and 2.2k.

This is the best synth by far i've ever used. Since i have 2 i can have double the power.

For modular freaks this is a must have.

| Well here in Russia G2engines are sold relatively often. Keyboard versions are pretty rare, I somehow managed to buy G2X brand new. I own two G2engines too, but thinking of selling them to buy a 3 octave G2... | |

| I noticed it too. Enough G1's but not too many G2's. Got mine today from Belgium in top condition for € 1.150 (G2 keys). Looked quite some time for one.
Maybe Clavia had lots of competition from the software/plugin field? People didn't see the hardware/software formula?
Too high priced new? Too complicated to appeal to a broad synth audience?
