| Quote: | The park has as its theme what could be called the "Human Condition." Most of the statues depict people engaging in various typically human persuits, such as running, wrestling, dancing, hugging, holding hands and so on.
However, Vigeland occasionally included some statues that are more abstract, and to some degree defy understanding. Such as the "Man attacked by Babies" statue, which shows an adult male, fighting off a horde of tiny babies. |

This is from my first outing with my new camera. I'm still getting to grips with the whole photography thing, so please excuse the less than optimal composition and exposures. Unfortunately, the best pictures in this series show the registration of the car, and one does not publish other enthusiast-cars plates (that's right it's not my car ).
Edit: found out that using HTML IMG tags leaves the pictures unscaled - thats's much better.
Edit2: I've discovered that the URLs on Canon Image Gateway Photo Album changes over time so that they can not be permanently linked to.
Edit3: Swapped in the rear quarter image after finally editing away the license plate
Addendum: I realize that there are no traditions for Automotive photography here in this otherwise stonking thread, thus I consider this display of design and engineering excellence to be much needed

Take two! This is the second time I'm out to capture this one. Today I found a hole in the fence which allowed me to get up close and personal. May not be much, but I'm a kid with a new toy

That's actually a nice picture. The contrast and colours are fine. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

No connection with my name, it was not like hell at all - not on a Sunday, not on a Sunday in that town (actually it's an amazingly frivolous thing for the town, otoh they also do stuff like this, which takes some getting used to as well).
The car is on the street yes, not in the middle but on the side, and it's on a part that has been set aside as a parking / market place. _________________ Jan

Yes, they told me they had great fun seeing me shooting 1000s of pix and strolling across the stage all the time. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I ordered this one just now:
It is great for making 360 spherical panos and it is really compact and light. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Cool ! How did you solve the problem with the motion, I mean there must have been quite some motion while you shot that scene. _________________ Jan

Well, yes.... of sorts.. but when I do the processing in PTGUI ( http://ptgui.com ) I opt for the psd file with the blended panorama and also with each individual image - as layers- included. This means I can manually edit stuff between the layers and sort out most problems with ease. For this one I guess I chose some 30% overlap between each exposure.
I have been messing with a nasty one today which is something like a 172 degree pan, using a 400mm lens and some 70 exposures. The resulting file is so huge that I cannot handle it well on my laptop. I think I will have to process it on my old dual CPU G5 ( which is maxed out on RAM and fast and huge drives ).
Anyways, I have 4 large format plotters at work. The width varies, but at least they all handle 30meter paper rolls.
I´ll be off to Spain on wednesday. I have planned some hilarious gigapixel sized partial panos of buildings and landscapes.
BTW: This device is tempting:
http://www.marc-kairies.de/english/MK_PanoMachine.html
Of course it is quite OK to do the exposures manually and in some cases you must do them manually because you want to shoot them exactly at the right moment. Still, the panomachine is pretty cool. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Madness!
Obviously this is not something one should ever attempt on a laptop with a mere 2 gigs of RAM and a 5400 rpm HD.
See the print size of the image at 300DPI.
I guess I will have to move this file to a more suitable mac. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

This is the file in a scaled down version. The original prints 6,5 meters in width at 300DPI .
