Please do shoot video and make a DVD.
I bought the 2007 DVD. It looked like a really cool event.
I am flying to Boston on Sunday and will watch it on my ipod.

We are working on setting up a live stream, but so far we still have some arranging to do.

Flying is very expensive, but what about some of us locals getting together and driving down. If there were enough people, we could even rent a van or a bus.

Hey! How about going down in a stretch limo or Hummer? Comfort and room for gear! Ya, I like that. party time!

I'm really bummed out because I can't go. dunno sigh

Probably. There will certainly be jam sessions and you may feel left out without your ax.

Thanks guys! I'll be there with you in spirit and I will be tuned into the stream, you can bet on that.

But, seriously, maybe some of us locals could carpool and get down there that way. That way I could give the crazy presentation I had planned. transformer

...i'm sad to say that ramona and myself will also be unable to attend this year. to be honest, it would be a stretch even if it were in philly, so having it a bit further away makes the decision much eaiser. we have become heavily involved in this beekeeping thing, and have to keep focused at the moment.

if there is a stream, we will certainly tune in, and of course, will be with you all in spirit!

I know there are a number of people from the Phila area that will be going. So it should be possible to share rides. We can use this forum to coordinate. We'll know more at the end of May, when applications are due.

We all had a tour of the facilities. I know Howard and Bill started clapping around the main stage room, and they both agreed it had a dead sound which is good for performing in. The stage itself is very deep. However, I will let them tell you their impressions.

Yes, it was great to see the venue first-hand.

The stage is much better than Cheltenham, and the jam/lecture/performance rooms are very nice too. There is a huge area to walk around and shmooze in around a beautiful atrium. We have lots of room for tables and demos. There are nice areas outside as well.

The area is in the mountains and you will enjoy the Appalachian Mountain air.

IMHO, the theater is the best thing, it is really as good a place to perform electronic music as I've been involved with. It is a long narrow tall hall, like all of the best concert halls. The acoustic treatment is simple, but well done. The room is relatively dead, but there is some life.

The long narrow tall hall will be almost ideal for stereo. I'm sure there are some spooky resonate frequencies (there almost always is), but we won't know until we start playing in there. I'm completely delighted; the sound will be superb.

There are 300 seats including a balcony. The seats are like wooden theater seats so people should bring along cushions.

There is a nice loading ramp and a large elevator, and there are several rolling carts for bringing in and taking out equipment.

Large nice restrooms are there too. There is good cell phone coverage on the 2nd floor where we will be.

We will be able to serve beer and beverages. We are now looking into getting catered food.

There is no wireless internet, but Mark is working on that.

I will probably be driving in from Memphis with a friend or two. If we rent a car we may have room to pick someone up along the way (off I40) - or someone could meet us in Memphis & we could drive together (ie from Little Rock[2hrs], St. Louis [4hrs], New Orleans[5.5hrs], Jackson [3hrs]).

Oh snap! I got your newest CD in mail Kyle. I've been digging it. I gave one of the extra copies to Dreamdaze and will give the other to Cybernaut next week. I'll send you a message with my number and email if you don't already have them.

I saw in the paper this week that Kingsport has actually been named the 2008 Best City for Walkers in the entire United States:

http://timesnews.net/article.php?id=9006322

I thought this was kind of amazing actually, but it's all because of the Green Belt, which is a very narrow, 9 mile long park that goes from one side of downtown to another with a paved Biking/Walking trail right through the center of it.

You can see here on this satellite view on Google Maps that the Green Belt park is not too far from the Renaissance center where the electro-music Festival will be, only about a half-mile to the north:

arrow map

Also of interest I thought I'd post the official web sites for both the Renaissance Center:

http://www.kingsportparksandrecreation.org/renaissancecenter/renaissancecenter.htm

And the Green Belt, which has a pdf map of the Greenbelt, though it seems to be missing its legend on the map itself that tells what all the marked points of interest are:

http://www.kingsportgreenbelt.com/

Editor's note: I edited the link to Google Map - seraph

This is quite a nice path. One large section follows the Holston River and the other a lengthy creek. There's only a very small section that is not wooded.

And then there's the hiking trails on Bays Mtn. Park: a truly beautiful city park on top of a mountain.

And then there are the hiking and mtn. bike trails of Warriors Path State Park.

All of these are within 10 miles or less of the venue.

Subject description: My 3 day pass gets mailed to Alabama?
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Here I am wondering where my 3 day pass to electro-music 2008 is and damned if it don't look like it was sent to Alabama.

To be brief: I noticed when I was ordering on electro-music.com store site
that my address, which is the same as it was when I ordered last years pass, was now listed as being in Alabama- as opposed to Pennsylvania. I had to go in and manually change it to PA during the process, and all LOOKED well, but now I can see from the Order Information page (order number 820) that the address was switched back to Alabama again, though the street address and ZIP are correct.

As there is certainly enough time for this to be sorted out I'll refrain from the anti-Paypal rant in this forum, but damn if this aint one more nail in the coffin for me as far as that outfit is concerned.

All tickets are picked up at the door on a will call basis, so don't worry about us sending something to Alabama. Sorry you are having difficulties. I'll look into it and see if I can spot something wrong.

UPDATE: I found the error and corrected your address entry. It is not a PayPal thing, but a subtle problem with the software we use for our store.

See you in Tennessee!

Could someone post the starting and ending times for the festival this year? I see that in previous years events have run from noon to midnight. This would help those of us who are making travel plans and trying to decide how many hotel nights to book.
