Hi all, this message is both happy and sad. The happy part is that Robin and I just purchased a new home and we are absoluty thrilled Very Happy

The sad part is that the move will happen right at the time of Electro Music 2008 Crying or Very sad With all the work that we need to do, we will not be attending the conference and i will not be able to perform. I will miss all the friends we have made over the last two events. We will certainly be back in 2009. We will miss you all AND will surely "tune in" on the internet streams and participate in the chat room ........ We love you all !

Can you tell Robin is happy with the new home Question

God bless .........
Bill (aka: State Machine and Robin)

This looks like great festival with an incredible bill - shame it's such a long way from me. I'd love to go.

Howdy all, glad to be on board for this year's festival. I attended and performed in 2005 as part of the TouchXtone duo, but will be solo in my Sensitive Chaos guise this year. Looking forward to seeing old friends and new friends alike.

Looks like there will be 3 acts from Atlanta (Harmaline, Kevin Spears, and myself).

I'll be arriving late Thursday night, as I've got a gig at the Athens Popfest early Thursday evening and will make the 4 hour drive from there afterwards.

How late to the bars stay open in Kingsport? Do they even have bars in Kingsport? Wink

Jim, it will be great having you here. Yes, we have bars, although the best ones are in the next town, Johnson City. In Kingsport: The MeadowView hotel has a nice one. On Stone Drive (11W) there is Rush St. bar and Grill. Nearby, on Eastman Rd. is Cheddars (very nice), Cootie Browns (one of my favorite local restaurants), O'Charlies', The Chop House, and Chili's. I think they close around 2 am.

Jeez... I wish I knew 'bout this earlier. Hell... I'm only 87 miles away... (about 1.5 hrs)... (and, these days, about 74 bricks of gold-pressed latinum!) Maybe if Mark cranks is it, I can hear in here in the Smokies, at exit 407 on "Die-40".

I would love to bring both of my dotcom systems... and do some jammin', since my sestems are set-up for presets... and, I'm building a Theremax to use as another controller, even as we speak.

I can't say with 100% certainty that I won't be able to make it, but it looks that way. Bummer.

Morbius, I meant to let you know EM08 is going to be in Tennasee. I assumed you would hear about it i guess...sorry about that. There's going to be tons of open jam sessions on the 15th and 16th. There's a space music session, a DIY thing, a noise jam ect. You should bring some stuff and rock out...it'll be a good time for sure.

Is there any reason I just couldn't buy my pass at the festival? Could they sell out?

thanks

The short answer is that it helps the folks organizing this event.

An event that sells out before it starts can be planned for. An event that sells out after it starts is either 1) an emergency, 2) and inconvenience, or 3) an imposition.

So help your hosts out, buy early.

Very Happy

Morbus. Please do whatever you can to come. If you bring equipment to demo, we can lock it up in a safe place when we aren't around. There will be lots of people that would love to meet you and see some of your goodies.

oscilloclast. Jim is right. Still, the venue is much bigger than the Cheltenham Art Center and I'm sure we will not have any problem taking your registration at the door. Even if we would sell out, we 'd find room for you.

Well thanx... (it's nice to know one's wanted) .... (ummm... beside the posters). The last gig I played out somewhere, I completely filled my 4-Runner (backseats down)... and that was just taking my two portable dotcom cabinets, dotcom keyboard, Motif ES-8, MS-2000, AW-4416, and my studio 'drafting stool'. I don't know how I could fit my studio cabinets... one of which, contains all of my analog sequencing, and related modules... and no flight-cases or any other 'protective' shipping containers.

Of course, with just the portable cab.s, keyboard, and perhaps the Theremax... I might be able to slide that 44-cabinet in. Still... I'm fairly certain I won't be able to make it anyway.... damn-it.

Is this festival gonna be in Kingsport again next year?

Your not going too far, and I would be more than happy to help you unload them. It's practically interstate the whole way.

I would love to go. But the prospect of taking a greyhound to a town i know nothing about and then hoping i will be able to find the right transportation to the Hotel is very scary.

Is anyone else from NY going? I dont even know how to drive or have a car. and i assume there is no MAJOR airport in kingsport? how are other people who dont drive getting there?

i really want to make it. are many people from the synt DIY forum going to be doing anything synth diy related?

thanks for any and all info!!

I don't know the travel arrangements of those from NY, by I know there will be transportation to pick you up at the Tri City Airport and take you to the hotel and to the venue. Several of us will have cars.

I assume there is a taxi company too.

Smile You will not be alone. Our events have an air of a family reunion at times.
