thank you for the links, seraph.

San Vivaldo - The Jerusalem in Tuscany
The main purpose in building the chapels was the one to offer local people the choice to go on a pilgrimage without going to Jerusalem – that in this period (XVI nth century) was subjected by Turkish rule – and without an excessive expenses. In fact, there is a document of Pope Leone X (from the Medici's family) the acknowledgment of the Chapels as religious place and the granting of and indulgence to those who went there to pray.

...so, not only I had a beautiful day and a great lunch on the nearby restaurant, but also I got an indulgence: the remission of part or all of the temporal and especially purgatorial punishment that according to Roman Catholicism is due for sins whose eternal punishment has been remitted and whose guilt has been pardoned (as through the sacrament of reconciliation).

I just got back from a really nice trip to California, including a bit of time in Yosemite. My nice little Canon camera broke - the lens motor jammed - but I got a few shots. To see them all, click on this link http://mosc.com/Slides/calif2006/index.html . There are a lot of family shots, but also some nice scenery.

He's 3 & 1/2. Horses mature physically at about 5 and psychologically around 7. We have three now, including the 28 year old Delacroix. The long life span is both blessing and a worry. You don't have to go through the ordeal of grief so often as with dogs, but, at our age, you have to be concerned about how they will fair after you can no longer care for them.

BTW those electro pups are indeed cute, just not this cute Wink

Omagod! I had hair!

This is another (cross your eyes for) stereo pair by David Hutchison.

Delacroix is still alive and kicking.

I was driving mindlessly through Allentown and came across a new Columbian restaurant. I've never had Columbian food before so I decided to stop in and have a bite. This is a modestly priced restaurant, but the food is prepared fresh. I had what they called a chicken corn pie. It was excellent. I plan on returning in the future.

Wish I could, but I don't have enough knowledge to identify things like ingredients. The sauce was yellow and not very spicy. Wasn't really a pie, but more like a tostata.

Last weekend I read a description in a magazine about how to change a digital camera for making infrared pictures. Pretty easy to do, disassemble camera remove IR filter from sensor put in a normal light filter (black negative or dia) and reassemble. Only in the case of my camera te IR filter actually was a coating on the lense, bad luck, I ended up with a bit of steel wool in the power drill - after a few minutes most of the filter coating was gone (and the lense still seemed sort of ok, apparently glass is tougher than iron).

Anyway, here is my first IR picture.

What you see here is the IR light coming of a remote control. The speakers in the back look kind of funny, the speaker cones are really black yet they look light here, and the screen of the bottom speaker turns out to be IR transparent - the speaker is not visible for the eye.

Hoping for some good IR conditions tomorrow Very Happy
