the G2 editor works just fine on a MacIntel running Leopard. For Logic 8 the G2 is only another hardware synth connected via MIDI so, no problems Exclamation
Very Happy

So do I need to wait for a MacIntel Editor or I can just connect Nord to USB and play it in Logic?

The USB connection is for the editor only, Logic can not use the USB port to do anything with the G2.

Use your Midi In and Out connections on the G2 in order to communicate with logic, either as midi contoller or as external instrument (u can record it into logic if you open an audio track, make sure all your midi settings and audio settings are set properly in logic).

(read logic manual about connecting external instruments)

the editor can work along side logic, no problem. With the editor you control the G2.

I normally use my laptop to run the editor (connected by usb thus) and use my logic on a desktop computer (midi connections)

good luck

Oh, thank you very very much for your help.
Almost 8 years I used Steinberg Cubase till... one week ago I decided to try Logic 8.
It's absolutely different and looks strange. I am confused a little.

But… Logic effected me! Sounds better than Cubase as I noticed.
Interface is quite friendly and I really liked it!
I decided not to use VST instruments so often as I did before, because I have Nord G2.
I hope I connect Nord properly and etc…

Thank You.

I am interested how many people work in Logic and Cubase here…

On Windows XP I had to turn on Editor to make 4 channels work.
Hope I won’t have problems with Logic.

Yes, I also was using Cubase until I discovered Logic... It is confusing in the first week, but once you get to know it, the work flow seems much easier than cubase, and generally a much more professional software.

There is nothing much about connecting the G2, it is same like any other synth or audio hardware connected to your computer.
USB connection to the computer running the editor of the G2, and midi connections the computer running logic/cubase/whatever... It can be the same computer, there is no need to use two computers.

In Logic you can add a new external instrument track, where you can write/record/edit the midi notes for the G2 and the automatization.
Note that in order to assign midi CC's you must assign the respective buttons/knobs on the editor/G2 (you do this yourself, comparing to most synths where the controlls are all pre-assigned). This give the G2 one of its unique powers!

To record the G2 simply add a new audio track, make sure you have Record enabled and that your inputs on this audio track are set to the inputs of your audio interface, where the G2 is connected to.

To sequence the G2 make sure in Logic Settings to send midi clock and time to the G2's midi channel. And make sure in the G2's settings that it is not ignoring external clock and check the rest of the midi settings.

I dont know how many G2 users are using Cuabse or Logic. There are not the only softwares out there, and they are probably more specific.
I use Logic to record the patches I make on the G2 and add some plug ins or some samples here and there.

I find the G2 does most of the work I need, I do all my drums and sounds from the G2, and not using any software plug ins.
To my opinion the G2 sounds great, and it is all a question of right mixing and dynamics. You can get any sound you want out of the G2.

Good luck!

I also use the G2 with Logic 8 on an intel mac running leopard, as well I am using a CME VX5 as my midi interface. It all runs quite well.

one question to nuriel77(and the others who might be thinking that way):
waht makes logic an overall more professional program for you?

i'm using cubase 4 studio(& g2 engine) and I'm not really missing anything,yet.

what do you prefer using logic?

sorry for being too much ot...

Development news On January 24, 2008, members of the development team at Clavia began the process on updating the editor and the drivers for the Nord G2 Modular. The team are working simultaneously on a Vista driver and an Intel compatible Mac version of the editor. We cannot estimate on a release date yet, this will be announced later. The Vista driver and the Intel-compatible editor will be available as a free download on this website when they are completed.

The MacIntel editor is in beta at the moment, send a nice email (WITHOUT THE SHOUTING) to Clavia and they may let you in as a tester.

I have the 1.41 beta 272 since 5 month, this BETA IS A JOKE, the development has stoped since this FIRST & ONLY(maybe the last?) release.
I guess the people at Clavia are busy with their OTHER great products....

Yeah, I'm a little concerned that this will be a repeat of the NM Classic situation where they leave us with a working beta that only adds operating system compatibility. Pair that with the comment from Clavia that a final release is imminent, it doesn't give me much hope that they addressed any bugs or added any new functionality or they would have released a new beta some time ago.

I would say there is little or no chance of bug fixes or added functionality.

The beta editor works very well for me.

When you try to save a patch during playback, it can result in a corrupted patch.
