Is the G2 expansion board worth buying. I'm not overly concerned with polyphony but I am interested in making more complex patches. I can not find much detail on the additional features this board will give me. Can anyone make a suggestion.

And personally I think the expansion to be useful for making larger patches, this due to the possibility to exchange information between patch parts through audio buses and the internal MIDI communications. Anyway, that's the way how I use the expansion mostly.

Wow thanks for the links.
I'm seriously considering buying it.

Would you suggest getting it professionally installed or is it something I can do myself? I read the tech docs on install and it looks easy but I dont want to void the warranty.

When I was searching for the above links I also found a couple about the installation & wondered if I should include those Very Happy I used the forum search function for that with the phrase "g2 AND expansion" selectivly on the Nord modular forum - in case you would want to search yourself.

It boils down to : it's not hard to do it yourself.

When you encounter problems you can post a question here & will likely get a response to it. Most people here having an expansion installed it themselves. Even when I order my engines with expansion I got the expansions delivered separately.

It is very easy to fit in the keyboard as well.

I have been reading that some people are missing the spacers for the expansion board. Is there a suitable replacement? Are they metric hex spacers, plastic, etc?

Well, yes, you can. But you can use the vocoder module as well without the expansion. It doesn't matter which modules you use with the expansion, you just get a net doubling of processing power.

To me, the expansion board is essential. Get it. Wink

If you have not already purchased a G2, I suppose it's worth mentioning that novamusik.com is selling a G2 plus an expansion board and gig bag for the same price that most people are charging for a G2 alone.
